Some NFL Trivia

1) In 2001 Jet's RB Curtis Martin became the third player in NFL history to run for 1,000 yards in each of his first 7 seasons. Who were the first two?

2) Who were the only 2 NFL players to win league rushing titles in each of their first 3 seasons?

3) Phil Simms is the all-time leading passer for the Giants with 33,462 yards. Name the four other quarterbacks in franchise history to throw for at least 9,000 yards (for the Giants).

Schmidty 01-24-2003 09:46 AM

1. Barry Sanders and Gayle Sayers (probably wrong)

2. Barry Sanders and Gayle Sayers (definitely wrong)

3. Giants suck.

Marmel 01-24-2003 09:50 AM

1) Barry Sanders is correct

2) no

3) no

You are a freaking moron schmidty.

Anrhydeddu 01-24-2003 09:52 AM

1) Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders ?

2) Terrell Davis, Eric Dickerson ??

3) Collins, Tarkenten, Hostetler, and a real old timer ???

Marmel 01-24-2003 09:53 AM

A-

1) Barry Sanders, is of course correct. Emmitt is not.

2) no

I should have never admitted my mistake on the JBL board. I've created a monster.

Aylmar 01-24-2003 10:06 AM

Kerrry Collins has thrown for 9,000 yards as a Giant, hasn't he?

Draft Dodger 01-24-2003 10:09 AM

#1 would have been Tony Dorsett, if not for the 1982 strike.

actually, if not for that interruption, he would have had an amazing 9 straight.

Draft Dodger 01-24-2003 10:11 AM

dola - and I think the answer to #1 is Eric Dickerson.

is football-reference.com gone?

Marmel 01-24-2003 10:15 AM

Here are the ones that have been answered correctly:

1) Barry Sanders and Erik Dickerson (good job DD)
2) (somebody) and (somebody else)

3) Collins, Tarkenton, Tittle, and (somebody)

Aylmar 01-24-2003 10:17 AM

Bummer...I totally missed the fact that Collins had already been mentioned...

it's got a new URL. no cheating!

Samdari 01-24-2003 10:21 AM

What is the new football-reference URL please. And its not cheating, its research.

I would gues the only ones to lead the league first three years are Jim Brown and Dickerson, with Earl Campbell being my third guess.

I would have to guess Otto (not to be confused with Kent) Graham as the 4th Giant.

Marmel 01-24-2003 10:28 AM

Jim Brown and Earl Campbell are correct for #2. nice work!

We just need that final Giants QB. It is not Graham, Kent or otherwise. :)

BFleming 01-24-2003 10:32 AM

Took a well-placed phone call, but #3 is:

Y.A. Tittle
Kerry Collins
Fran Tarkenton
Charlie Conerly :D

Marmel 01-24-2003 10:33 AM

...and that concludes this edition of 'Some NFL Trivia'

I recall a good Superbowl trivia website that I will try to look up later for more questions.

sabotai 01-24-2003 10:36 AM

Charlie Conerly is the last Giants QB

sabotai 01-24-2003 10:36 AM

Damn, FLeming beat me...if only I hadn't taken time to take a sip of my white grape juice.....

BFleming 01-24-2003 10:39 AM

the grape juice will kill ya sabotai :p
