1871 (Season 34) Season Thread
We'll begin SLOP's 34th season tonight nerds.

I need to be up at 3am. So this is gonna be fast.

Yeah...I knew I'd hate the single table as far as my own team's prospects were concerned. But oh well. ;)

If nothing else, things are competitive?
|
5 teams in the AL within 4 games of the wild card. In the NL, it's bedlam. 4 teams within 5 games.
|
File is up. 2nd set (June-July) tomorrow night. I'll be traveling, but we should be there in time to get it together. I'll let you know if there are issues.
|
Love our start.
Hate the league structure. Go Gomers! |
not thrilled about our start
hate the gomers! |
Structure is awesome. Gomer sux.
|
Don't be hatin', HATERZZ.
:hand: |

Subby for President! |
Don't mind the structure. Don't really care what it is as long as it stays the same for a while. Consistency would be nice.
Where did extra 2 teams come from? I've been out of touch and hadn't read through the previous threads? I'm realizing MOV is pretty important for pitchers. Ted Douglass looks like he'd be a quality #1 or #2 but the little bastard can't keep the ball in the yard. 29 HR in 17 GS. |
The un-silent minority is getting pretty uppity.
The league structure sucks. There's really no debating. End of story. It feels like some kind of ridiculous Euro/Canadian soccer tournament. And yeah, where did the new teams come from? Do we have actual human GM's running each team in the league? |

DC/YD has always been pretty dedicated in teams... dunno about camden, but i thought Ramzavieziel came back for SD |

Pretty uppity? Are you an asshole or do you just play one on the internet? |

Let's not get our panties in a knot here, buddy. If you can't have some fun on the internet, then what good is it, online kev. |
TODAY I HEART GOMER
|
We got to St. Louis late last night (hello driving, bleh), internet was slow downloading the league file to the laptop and I went to bed. Alas, you get in-season in the morning.
HTML won't be updated until I get back home (on Saturday or Sunday). It takes too long on a remote connection. Anyway...Part 2 of the season forthcoming. |
I am happy to upload the HTML if you tell me how.
|
San Diego belongs to Ramz, I thought everyone knew that. Camden was for an OOTP person who hasn't joined the forum yet.
I have no idea how to reply to the too-much-change crowd. All I do is try to make this league fun and use it as respite from a world where people often underappreciate my committment. I know at least one person who'll be joining us next year and I'm trying to find one more to fill us out, so we can even out the NL and AL next season. If we do that, we can go back to divisional play. This was always a transitional year. |

I need to give one of you admin access one of these times to run the sims when I can't one of these times in an assistant commish capacity. If I have time later (I'm literally running the season and running out here in about 8 minutes) I will try to run some instructions together and send it to you, because I don't upload it through the game because it takes forever so I just do it direct to FTP. So yeah, maybe tonight when we get back I can try to get that together for you all. |

Ok, I'm running out. The file is uploading on a slow hotel wifi connection. I'd say wait 30 minutes from this post and then try to download the league file. Like I said, I will try to get some HTML uploaded later in the evening when we're back here...but it's a busy day and I appreciate your patience.

consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. viva la random change! after all, it's YOUR personal playground.... |

Also, if we could name Subby Emporer for life and muzzle Gomer, then I think this league would be perfect! :) |
Oh, and Portland sucks. That good start has given way to the mediocrity that has defined Portland since it joined the league as an expansion team. Maybe next year will be the year the team reaches .500.
|
Just shows you what kind of Bizarro world, this SLOP is.... where Subby is the good guy and I'm the bad guy!
Funny stuff! And yeah, I'll vote for Subby for emporer too! |

Holy Fuck... |
Party time. Or something.
|
I made the error of simming all the way to the end of the regular season (because I'm tired...and I just wanted to do this.)
We have two wild card ties. In the NL, Lake Tahoe and Brooklyn (91-71) will play a one-game playoff and in the AL, Grand Rapids and Winnemucca (91-71) will do the same to see who will advance to their respective league playoffs. |
Lake and Tahoe and Winnemucca host since they won their respective season series.
|
Brooklyn 7, Lake Tahoe 6
Grand Rapids 3, Winnemucca 1 |

Rio Grande is making their 2nd playoff appearance in the past ten seasons, Wyoming is making their maiden playoff voyage, Gettysburg seeks their 4th straight NL pennant and Brooklyn is five years removed from their last title. The defending champion Smokers are back for more playoff glory and Grand Rapids is back for the 2nd straight year.
|
Will sim playoffs on Sunday when we get back from St. Louis.
|
File is up.
|
wtf
|
I was expecting the Subby Syndicate to overtake us by the end of the season.
We'll take it. Bring on the 'yoffs! |
Start off 73-49, finish 18-23. Ok then.
As my grandmother likes to say...that is some Bulllllshit. |
Man, we really tapered off
|
boo, missed by one game
|
If I can't get above .500 in 1872 , I am having a fire sale!
|
Really wish I had some pitching, that offense is sick.
|
We'll crown a champ tonight, nerds.
|
pick up the pace nancy!
