What Times Work for You?

For my next game there is a possible advantage to being around at the start of the day. What times are you generally available for? Note you can vote for more than 1 option.

I think it depends on what 'being around' means. For example, the way my schedule works now, I leave the house at around 7 AM Eastern. If it's something where there's a build-up (like a lynch vote), getting on before 7 AM would be tough, but doable (although I wouldn't be on much before). On the other hand, I could leave after 7, but I wouldn't want to push it past more than 7:30, so if it's the kind of thing where some serious gameplay is about to start, I'd be out for a couple hours right after that. So basically, how long are we talking here?

Long enough to make a post. Being around to follow-up is helpful but not absolutely necessary. The important part will be making a post.

Yeah, 7 or 8am ET are really the only times I can be sure to be around, after that it is hit or miss depending on the day.

I imagine this will be hard to pull off. I can't reliably be available on the computer until 10AM probably, and I'm sure lots of people are unavailable due to work or classes.

As I said, it will be an advantage. It will not be a requirement.

I can wake up early and go back to sleep if I need/want to.

Ditto that. Starting July, I'm most likely going to have a long work-day starting somewhere between 7 and 11 AM CT. I tend to get up an hour before work, and catch up on anything online I need to, so really, any start time is fine.

Lathum 05-13-2009 10:24 AM

Being on the West Coast the 7/8 AM options are out for me.

Depending on the day and my class schedule the others except 4/5 all work in some combination or another,

dola- with zero knowledge of the mechanics I have to ask is it fair to grant an advantage to people who can be on at a certain time?

I don't really care about the mid day ones because at least there is the expectation that everyone is awake, but the early ones are 4/5 AM for the west coasters and I don't think thats a realistic expectation that we would be up.

That being said, I have the utmost faith in BK to run a fair and balanced game.

There is often a first mover advantage in WW. This game will be no different. I'm still figuring out mechanics and have already figured out one way to make this far less of an issue than I thought it was going to be last night.

I'm odd. I voted for everything 1PM or later, but that only works 2 out of every 3 days. The other day I am at work for 24 hours and my available time is normally 16+ of those 24 hours but it is day to day which of those 16 hours it will actually be.

MartinD 05-13-2009 03:29 PM

I'm in a slightly different position, as I'm in the UK, so am 5 hours ahead of Eastern Time for most of the year. I can usually be around between 1pm and 6pm (which is between 6pm and 11pm over here), and will normally check up on what's going on in the morning before I head to work (so a 1am ET (6am UK time) deadline actually works pretty well for me...)
