FOF 2k7: The Early Years - Philadelphia Eagles
I'm doing what will hopefully be a very long dynasty - I'm aiming for 100 or more years. I'm starting this using 6.0b and plan on continuing this with whatever patches come out in future months.
Injury Setting: 150 - I like the idea of being somewhere between the "fun" default level of 100 and the more realistic 200. Wall Street Difficulty (of course.) Full X-Factor Default Roster File included with the game. I'll use the real 2007 draft file. I'll control my offensive gameplans, but may use recommend and let my "defensive coordinator" control that aspect of the team. I'll make all roster decisions. Time to get started with a look at the roster. |
Most of the guys get along, but Michael Lewis has a strong conflict with Brian Dawkins who is the secondary leader. A look at the offense: McNabb is rated 66/66 and is good at everything but accuracy and timing where he is just ok. He is great at sense rush and scrambling. Garcia is a barely acceptable backup who is rated 23/23. Feeley is rated 8/20 and hopefully will not be getting into the game. Westbrook is rated 76/76. He particularly excels at breakaway speed, hole recognition, speed to the outside, and in receiving out of the backfield. Mahe, Buckhalter, and Moats are all rated about 30/30 with Moats being a 30/38. Tapeh is rated 20/40 and will probably need to be replaced at some point. He looks like he could be a capable blocker. L.J. Smith is rated 50/50 and is good at everything but excels at nothing. Schobel and Bartrum are rated about 20/20 each. Stallworth is rated 45/45 and has good deep speed but is just ok at everything else. Reggie Brown is rated 32/55. He can excel at deep balls but is just barely passable at everything else. Hank Baskett is rated 37/61 and could excel and possibly start ahead of Reggie Brown. His biggest weakness is too many dropped balls, but he does everything at least ok already. He has the potential to be good. Greg Lewis is rated 33/46 and has great deep speed, but is not good at much else. Jason Avant and Jeremy Bloom are both 20/38 type guys. Bloom has good deep speed but poor hands. Jamaal Jackson looks terrible at C and is only rated 16/38. Since, he is the only C on the roster, we will need to either make a trade, sign a FA, or move someone.. G Todd Herremans is a 26/58 rated LG who has a strong affinity with the line leader. He has the potential to be a very good run blocker. G Max Jean-Gilles is rated 20/38 and looks like a very poor run blocker at LG. RG Shawn Andrews is our offensive line leader despite his young age. He is a huge guy who has the potential to be a very good blocker despite only being rated 42/65. G Scott Young is rated 13/40 at RG and will take a lot of seasoning. LT William Thomas is rated 36/36 and he looks like he doesn't have a lot left in the tank. He is a good pass blocker but a poor run blocker. However, he is a mentor. LT Winston Justice is rated 19/42 and probably will never be a starter unless he improves quite a bit more than is expected. RT Jon Runyan is older than Thomas but is still playing well. He is rated 56/56 and is a decent run blocker and a good pass blocker. Dirk Johnson is rated 15/15 as a Punter and will be cut immediately and replaced. Akers is rated 59/59 and has good accuracy but just average power on FG kicks. |
Kearse is rated 73/73 and looks like an excellent all around DE.
Darren Howard is a 55/55 rated DE who excels against the run but is weak at rushing the passer. He is also a mentor. Jerome McDougle is rated 30/53 and has the potential to become an elita pass rusher. However, he is very weak against the run. Juqua Thomas is rated 22/22 and may not make the team this year. Trent Cole is rated 34/52 and has the potential to be a very good pass rusher but is weak against the run. Darwin Walker is rated 50/50 and is ok against the run but excels at rushing the passer. He is also a mentor. Broderick Bunkley is rated 42/69. He has the potential to be good against the run, but isn't yet. He already is an ok pass rusher and has the potential to be great at this. Mike Patterson is rated 34/48 and has the potential to be a good pass rusher for a DT. Sam Rayburn is rated 23/29 and could be ok as a backup. LaJuan Ramsey is a rookie who isn't good at anything and has little potential according to our scouts (9/22.) MLB Jeremiah Trotter is rated 76/76 and excels against the run but is good at everything. Omar Gaither is a 27/61 MLB who will be very good against the run one day. SLB Dhani Jones is rated 57/57 and is very good against the run. SLB Chris Gocong is rated 13/30. He looks like he could be a good pass rush specialist one day. WLB Shawn Barber looks like he is washed up. He is rated 28/28 and is only decent at run stopping but not much else. WLB Matt Mccoy is rated 33/54. He is already the best option on the team. Potential to be very good against the run, but a weak pass defender. CB Sheldon Brown is rated 56/56 and particularly excels in zone defense. CB Lito Sheppard is rated 55/60 and particularly excels at M2M defense. He is an ok zone defender. Michael Lewis is rated 70/70 and excels at zone but is good at everything. He hates Dawkins. Dawkins is rated 69/69 and is good at everything but zone. Sean Considine is rated 36/65 and has potential to be a great pass defender who could be very good at everything but run defense. S Quintin Mikell is rated 22/31 and can be an ok backup. |
Our first move is to sign Lance Randle, a rookie punter from Michigan who is rated 30/50 and will immediately take over the job.
We get rebuffed by several teams in trying to acquire their C for a variety of reasons (fan favorite, too much dead cap space, etc.) despite offering multiple draft picks. However, the Bears agree to trade their backup C, Patrick Mannelly, who is rated 51/51 for a 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft. Patrick is an ok run blocker and an excellent pass blocker. Finally, we sign LT Nick Howard a 10/43 rookie who we hope might develop into a starting quality T. I'm going to zoom by the pre-season with just comments on outstanding performances or injuries. |
In our first pre-season game, Moats had 102 yards on 23 carries as we beat the Raiders 20-14.
Westbrook had 72 yards on only 9 carries. Darren Howard had 2 sacks in limited PT. Unfortunately, Mike Patterson dislocated his shoulder and will be out for about 2 months. Our 2nd pre-season game, we beat Cleveland 27-5 thanks to 163 yards on 28 carries by Moats. Howard again had 2 sacks in limited PT. We lost to the Ravens 20-13 in our 3rd pre-season game, but moats still almost had 100 yards on 19 carries. Garcia threw two picks which cost us the game. In our 4th exhibition game, the Steelers beat us 10-9. Moats had 112 yards on 25 carries. Westbrook had 16 yards on just 2 carries. Greg Lewis had 9 catches for 109 yards. In our last exhibition game, we beat the Jets 10-6. Moats again had over 100 yards (103) on 25 carries. Garcia was 11 of 11 in the game for 74 yards. We are using a mostly short passing game and a committment to the run during the whole pre-season. Buckhalter hurt his knee in the last game and will be out for a few weeks. Time to start the regular season! |
Greg Lewis with a great kick return gets us the ball inside their 44 on the 1st drive.
Unfortunately, we go 3 and out as they stuffed Westbrook on his first two runs. Their first drive has a few big plays that leads to a short FG. At least our defense toughened up in the red zone. Early in the 2nd, Akers hits a 50 yard FG to tie it up 3-3. Our defense is playing much better in the 2nd quarter. At the end of the half, we are up 10-3 thanks to a McNabb TD pass to Stallworth. Carr hits Moulds for a 10 yard TD pass to tie it up 10-10 in the 4th. Bloom with a key 3rd down catch on 3rd and 11. With 5 minutes left, they hit a short FG to make it 13-10 Houston. DeMeco Ryans with a big interception ends our next drive. Our defense forces a FG attempt which they convert. 16-10 with 1:30 left. McNabb fails to complete a few long passes and William Thomas gives up a sack which forces a turnover on downs. We are going to lose 16-10. Week 1, 2006 played in Houston, TX 91 degrees, fair, calm

Fortunately, only Washington won their game in the NFC East.
Next up is a key game hosting the Giants. I've tweaked our pass offense to throw a bit longer passes. Peyton Manning is the player of the week after completing 27 of 40 passes for 386 yards with 3 TD's and 1 INT. Eli Manning completed 27 of 49 passes for 469 yards with 2 TD's and 1 INT. Larry Johnson led all running backs with 33 carries for 147 yards and 2 TD's. Plaxico Burress had 9 catches for 240 yards and a Td. Kearse had 3 sacks, but Joe Salave'a of Washington was the defensive player of the week with his 7 tackles and 3 sacks. |
Early in the 2nd, Plaxico breaks a short pass into a 26 yard gain.
A few plays later Barber runs it 42 yards for a TD. 7-3 the Giants lead. A few minutes later, they make it 14-3. We need to answer. Late in the 2nd, McNabb goes down with an injury. Garcia connects with Stallworth for 23 yards on his first play in the game. Two plays later, Garcia connects with Stallworth on a 22 yard TD pass. 17-10. Our next drive is marked by Bloom catching a 11 yard pass to convert 3rd and 10. Moats ends it with a 2 yard TD run. 17-17. Late in the 3rd, Bunkley goes down with an injury. Plaxico makes a big play on 3rd and 7 and gets them inside the 5. Barber runs it in from the 2 yard line, 2 plays later. 24-17. Westbrook with a big 39 yard run on our next drive. Garcia with a few good passes to lead us further down the field, and Westbrook runs it in to make it 24-24 early in the 4th. We force a fumble early in their drive. Barber recovers it for us. Unfortunately, Akers misses a 44 yard FG to waste the opportunity. Garcia throws a pick on our next drive that gives them great field position. Our defense holds, but they hit a 51 yard FG. 27-24 with 6:50 left. We force a punt and get it on their 44 with 3:00 minutes left. However, Garcia throws 3 bad passes. We punt and pin them inside the 5. Kearse sacks Manning and almost gets a safety. Instead, they get the punt off. We are midfield with 1:05 left. Two bad passes and a scramble force 4th and 7. He throws another bad pass. We turn it over on downs and they run out the clock. 27-24 loss. McNabb has a severely strained calf and will miss at least our next game. Peyton Manning was the player of the Week. He completed 20 of 26 passes for 399 yards with 4 TD's 0 INT's.
Kurt Warner and Brady also had over 300 yards. Jamal Lewis led all rushers with 21 carries for 162 yards. Larry Johnson had 21 carries for 130 yards. Reggie Wayne was the leading receiver with 7 catches for 208 yards and 3 TD's. Marcellus Wiley was the defensive player of the week with 5 tackles and 3 sacks. Next up is a game at SF that is a must win for us. We'll be relying more on Westbrook than ever. |
2nd play of the game is a long pass from Garcia to Baskett for a 45 yard gain!
A few plays later we get inside the 5. Next play Garcia scrambles for a 4 yard TD! 7-0. Alex Smith is starting for them and he completes his first two passes, but a penalty forces a 3rd and long which we stop. A few drives later, Garcia hits Bartrum for a 33 yard TD! 14-0. With 5 minutes left in the first half, Garcia throws a pick deep in our zone giving them a very short field. Gore runs it in from 6 yards out a few plays later. 14-7. At halftime, we are up 14-7. They score on the 1st drive of the 2nd half. 14-14. They moved the ball easily. Akers misses a 38 yard FG with 5:28 left in the 3rd. :( SF hits a 43 yard FG towards the end of the 3rd to make it 17-14. Early in the 4th, we injure Alex Smith. They have to bring in Trent Dilfer. 20-14 on a short FG with 5:59 left. We go 3 and out and punt. They miss a long FG and we get it on our 43 with 2:49 left. 2 plays later, they sack Garcia and force a fumble which they recover. We stop them and force a punt, but Garcia can't connect on 3rd and 10 or 4th and 10 and we turn it over on downs. Another loss. 20-14 loss. Tough decision in week 4. McNabb could play, but there is a high risk of injury. Do I bring him back early in an absolute must win game?
Baskett is really improving according to my scouts, so I decide to hold off on benching him for Brown. I decide to give Garcia the start against the 1-2 Packers as I don't want to risk McNabb re-injuring himself. Manning was the Player of the Week again with 27 of 36 passes completed for 335 yards 2 TD's 0 INT's. Kevin Barlow led all backs with 27 carries for 189 yards and a TD. Dennis Northcutt led all receivers with 6 catches for 181 yards and 2 TD's. Julius Peppers was the defensive player of the week with 6 tackles and 3 sacks. |
Rodgers is starting for an injured Brett Favre!
Garcia with a bad interception midway through the 3rd to end a promising drive. Rodgers is tearing us up the last two quarters. He connects with Driver for a 22 yard TD. 17-3, GB. End of 3: 17-3. Garcia throws another pick to kill another drive. We were inside their 30. Game over. 20-3 loss. We couldn't stop Rodgers and Driver and we had trouble moving the ball. The good news is that Bunkley and Patterson are now 100% as are several other guys who had minor injuries.
The bad news is that McNabb is still injured, but I have no choice. He will start our next game. Manning wasn't player of the week this time but he still threw for the most yards: 378 yards on 27 of 34 passing. Hasselbeck was the player of the week with 19 of 22 passing for 251 yards with 3 Td's 0 INT's. Steven Jackson led all RB's with 31 carries for 152 yards and 2 TD's. T.O led all receivers with 5 catches for 150 yards and a TD. Bert Berry, Arizona was the defensive player of the week with 4 tackles and 2.5 sacks. |
If McNabb goes down for the year, the Eagles fans will be burning you in effigy on Packer Avenue.

Glenn fumbles their first pass and Brown recovers!
5 plays later, McNabb throws it 2 yards to Schobel for a TD! 7-0. After making it 7-3, on their next drive they connect on a big pass to T.O that gets them inside the 5, but Patterson with a big sack of Bledsoe and then a CB sack forces them to settle for a FF. 7-6, we lead at the end of 1. Stallworth took a 6 yard pass and went 49 yards for a TD! 14-6. However, we fall behind 17-14 early in the 4th. We respond with a great drive punctuated by a 41 yard TD run by Westbrook. 2 plays later Dawkins intercepts it and returns it to their 5, but we only get a FG. 24-17. They have one last drive... They convert 4th and 5 with a pass to T.O. However, a few plays later we get them into 4th and 10. Owens converts it with a 12 YAC play for a total of 15 yards. With 20 seconds left, they get inside our 15. They get inside our 2 as time is about to expire and call a timeout. Dawkins stops the HB screen for no gain to end the game! 24-17 win. We advance to 1-4. Can we turn around our season? Good news is that McNabb is 100% now. However, Bunkley is questionable with another pulled groin. Brown and Baskett split time equally this game and Brown had slightly better stats. Despite what our scouts say about Baskett's progression, I will start Brown and Baskett will be our #3 man in the next game..
Byron Leftwich was the Offensive Player of thw week with 27 of 35 passing for 216 yards 3 TD's 0 Int's. Peyton had the week off. Chester Taylor led all backs with 31 carries for 142 yards and a TD. Greg Lewis fumbles a punt return to give them great field position. Brees finishes the drive with a 6 yard TD pass to Colston to make it 13-10 with 2 minutes to go. Halftime: The Saints lead 13-10. Baskett continues to develop at a phenomenal rate according to our scouts. Brown didn't impress (not that we threw it much.) Baskett is back in as starter, and I'm going to set the gameplan to throw it more than ever for our game at Tampa Bay.

Early in the game, we sack Jay Fieldler and force a fumble which we recover.
We end up settling for a short FG. 3-0. Dawkins with a big interception on their next drive. Greg Lewis fumbles another punt return to give them good position. Howard forces a fumble from the QB, recovers it, and runs it in 73 yards!! 13-0! We are only up 16-14 at the end of 3. Turnovers are the only reason we are winning. with 11:17 left, TB goes up 17-16 on a 38 yard FG. After exchanging failed drives, we get the ball back with 3:19 to go on our own 7. We go 3 and out (due to a sack) and punt. Unfortunately, Pittman has a 14 yard run to convert 3rd and 10. Our 2-5 record is worst in the NFC East, but Dallas is only 3-3 and they are tied for first.
Bunkley is back to 100%. We lose the Jacksonville game 23-10. I never felt like we had a chance once they got up early. I really need to improve along the offensive line. Our G's should improve with experience, but we need a much better LT. Of course, with this 2-6 record, we may be able to get one in the draft... You ever think about just trying to play as an owner? Maybe a controlling owner that sets himself up as Owner / GM like Jerry Jones. No coaching decisions at all. Having to watch that 25 million dollar 1st round rookie set on the bench as your Coach decides to start some over the hill veteran making league minimum instead would be mind blowing. Trying to figure out what players to sign to improves your Coaches system would be a big challenge. Playing in an Owners only mode would be kind of fun for a longterm game. |

The Gameplanning is SO much more interesting to me in this version than previous versions, and I want to play a career where I utilize that. Although, it is not going so well this time around this year. However, I think that will change once I solidify the offensive line. Tom Brady threw for the most yards last week (331) but Steve McNair won the offensive player of the week award. He completed 19 of 23 passes for 254 yards 4 TD's 0 INt's.
Shaun Alexander led all rushers with 42 carries and 188 yards with 1 TD. Eddie Kennison led all receivers last week with 8 catches for 143 yards and a TD. David Thornton, Tennessee, was the defensive player of the week with 9 tackles, 2 sacks, and an interception from the OLB position. Next up, we host Washington which is currently 4-4. Washington's run offense is 3rd in the league behind Clinton Portis who has 179 carries for 655 yards and 11 TD's. However, their pass offense is weak. Their defense is solid and is 11th overall. |
Our first drive starts off with 6 runs, then 4 passes, then a 2 yard run into the endzone. TD Westbrook! 7-0.
They are starting Todd Collins instead of Brunell who has been bad most of the year. A sack by Bunkley and Kearse ends their first drive, and they miss a 47 yard FG. Moats breaks a 38 yard run on our next drive! A few plays later McNabb to Baskett for an 18 yard TD!!! 14-0. Shawn Barber is injured on the ensuing kick off. A few drives later, Baskett catches a very short pass and makes some moves to turn it into a 27 yard play. That play was the key in a drive that has a TD negated by a holding call. Instead, we settle for a short FG. 17-0 with 4:21 left in the half. Our defense continues its brilliant play this first half. At the half, we are up 17-0. We've shut down their passing game and held their running game to only 33 yards. Midway in the 3rd quarter, we injure Collins and Brunell comes into the game. Brunell completes his first 4 passes and Portis starts having some strong runs to get inside our 5. Portis runs it in from the 5 for a TD but holding negates it. The next play Portis runs it in from 15 yards out for a TD. 17-7 late in the 3rd. We respond with a long good drive in the beginning of the 4th that ends with a TD pass to Stallworth! 24-7. Brunell doesn't complete a pass on his next two drives as our defense is locking down again. Michael Lewis suffers an injury late in the 4th. :( After a ton of solid runs by Westbrook on our drive late in the 4th, Moats breaks a 28 yard run for a TD. 31-7 with 1:09 left. Our team looked great in this game. Can we still get back into the NFC East? 31-7 win. Michael Lewis suffered an injury and is doubtful for next week, but our trainer thinks there is a low chance of reinjury so we will probably start him. On their next drive, we injury Vince Young on a scramble. Trotter was the tackler. Our next drive is marked by a 37 yard pass to Stallworth that gets us to the 2. Moats runs it in 2 plays later. 21-7. Kerry Collins is in the game and he connects on a 21 yard pass on his first play. However, his next 3 passes are incomplete forcing a fumble. Our next drive, L.J. Smith suffers what appears to be a very serious injury :( Halftime: 21-7, we lead. Sean Considine intercepts the 2nd pass of their first drive of the 2nd half. A Kerry Collin's fumble gives us a very short field and we end a 17 yard drive with a 1 yard QB Keeper by McNabb! 28-7. Sean Considine gets his second interception of the day. With no better choices, Winston Justice gets a chance to prove himself at RT. He will have a tough first test against the 8-2 Indianapolis Colts. Their run offense is 20th but their pass offense is 1st in almost every statistic. Manning has completed 219 of 328 passes for 2898 yards with 23 TD's and 6 INT's for a 110.3 QB Rating. Greg Lewis catches an immediate throw at the line of scrimmage, fakes out two defenders, and runs 20 yards for a TD!!! 7-0. We force a 3 and out as Dallas Clark doesn't quite run deep enough on 3rd and 5. Dawkins wrapped him up. Shawn Andrews is quickly becoming a dominant blocker... He has the key block on several of our runs including a 24 yard TD run by Moats!!! 14-0. Our next drive ends with a 1 yard TD run by Westbrook! 21-3 with 2:40 left in the half. Wow. 32 yard pass and a 51 yard pass to Wayne for a TD. 21-10. The Colts struck very quickly. 21-10, we lead at halftime. Broderick Bunkley picks upa minor injury early in the 3rd, but the Colts march down the field. Addai with a TD pass from Manning to make it 21-17. A defensive pass interference call against us, keeps their next drive going on a 3rd and 15. A few plays later, Dominic Rhodes runs it in from 10 yards out. The colts lead 24-21 now. On our next drive, Stallworth drops a pass. Then, Lewis drops a pass. But Baskett catches a 13 yard pass to convert 3rd and 10. We still stall at about midfield. A good punt starts them on the 5. We force a 3 and out as Harrison was well covered on the 3rd and 5 play. Stallworth drops a TD pass and we can't convert the ensuing 3rd and 10. Akers hits a FG to tie it at 24. 9 minutes left. Up 14-0 with 6 minutes left in the half. McNabb has been almost perfect so far today. 9 of 10 for 126 yards and 2 TD's. McNabb throws a pick on our next drive that gives them the ball around midfield. They hit Colbert for a 17 yard TD to make it 14-7. Just before halftime, we connect on a 29 yard FG as time is expiring to make it 17-7. To start the 3rd quarter, McNabb throws a quick pass to Reggie Brown who breaks a tackle, jukes another guy, and goes 56 yards for a TD!!! 24-7. In the 2nd half, we got a few turnovers and we took advantage. Unfortunately, in the 4th quarter, Baskett picks up an injury that knocks him out of the game. Game over. 43-7 win! Baskett pulled his calf and he is going to miss at least a few games. Assuming, we are out of the playoffs, he probably won't play again this year. Reggie Brown will start and Avant will get some PT now as the 5th receiver. Bloom will see more action as the 4th receiver.
Speaking of the playoff pitcure. NY lost, but Dallas won and is now first in the NFC East with a 6-6 record. Their are several 6-6 teams that are all alive for the wildcard positions in the NFC. Kerry Collins was player of the week again with 27 of 38 passing for 226 yards with 4 TD's 0 INT's. Vince should be back in a week or two from the injury we inflicted on him. Ronnie Brown was the leading RB with 28 carries for 172 yards and 3 TD's. Reggie Brown led all receivers with his 7 catches and 161 yards and 1 TD in our win. Shawne Merriman, OLB SD, was the defensive player of the week with 7 tackles, 2 sacks, and a pass defensed. Our next game is at Washington. Todd Collins has recovered from his injury. However, Jason Campbell who has developed on the bench and has the highest potential has taken over as the starter. Presumably, he will start again. He was 18 of 27 for 170 yards with a TD and 2 INT's in his first start last week. Their running attack remains potent with Portis already having over 1000 yards and 15 TD's. However, their passing game remains weak, but has shown improvement lately. Their pass defense is 5th, but their run defense is 21st. Their turnover margin is -2 which is 18th. They lost their last game with Campbell 20-17 to the Falcons. |
Todd Collins started the game and the first play was a bomb for a 78 yard TD to Chris Cooley! 7-0, Washington.
Cooley has over 100 yards early in the 1st quarter. Towards the end of the 1st, we are down 17-0. We need to do something on this drive, and Brown and Bloom make a few good plays. McNabb connects with Brian Jennings for a 10 yard TD to end the drive! 17-7. 1:40 left in the half. We pick off Collins and get the ball right back. Unfortunately, we can't convert 3rd and 11 and we punt. Halftime: 17-7 Washington. We get the ball to start the 2nd half. Our 2nd drive of the half ends with a McNabb interception. Bloom drops a long pass that probably would have been a TD. We fail to convert the resultant 3rd and 7. Washington goes up 27-7 early in the 4th :( 27-7 loss. Eli Manning was the offensive player of the week as he completed 23 of 35 passes for 316 yards with 6 TD's and 1 INT. We play Eli and the Giants next.
Clinton Portis was the leading running back with 38 carries for 149 yards and a TD. Chad Johnson was the leading receiver with 8 catches for 206 yards and a TD. Kyle Vanden Bosch, DE Tenn, was the defender of the week with 4 sacks. I tweak our offense a bit more and will try to get a win against the Giants and preserve our miniscule playoff chances.. |
Midway through the 1st, Eli dissects our defense and Barber finishes it off with a 5 yard TD run. 7-0.
Akers misses a 42 yard FG early in the 2nd. Big miss. They march right down the field through passing and then Barber runs it in from the 2 yard line. 14-0. :( We drive all the way down the field but get stopped in the redzone. Short FG is made by Akers. 14-3. Sheesh, Manning with another long pass against our pass defense. Our DC isn't doing a good job with these defensive gameplans lately. Barber fumbles inside our 5! We recover and prevent going down 21-3. 55 seconds to get down the field. We only get to midfield before having to punt. 14-3 we are down at the half. We go 3 and out on our first drive. We are now 5-0 and definitely out of the playoffs. Next up is Dallas which has fallen to 6-8 and is probably out of the playoffs as well.

We are now 5-10.
Let's look at the race for the #1-10 draft picks... #1 is Denver with a 1-14 record! They went with Jay Cutler from the very beginning and he has had growing pains but has decent stats after 15 starts: 277 of 486 for 2627 yards with 15 TD's and 13 INT's. However, their running game hasn't been up to snuff and Bell is the leading rusher with 827 yards. Also, the run defense has been terrible (32nd) and the pass defense has been bad. This could be explained by a few injuries on the defense including Al Wilson who has missed most of the season. Detroit is 2-13. Kitna has been bad. 9 TD's 12 INT's on the year. Passing offense is 31st in the league. Run offense is 32nd in the league. Run defense is 25th. Pass defense is 10th. After that they are a handful of teams at 5-10 (including us) who are all fighting for the #3 pick. Cleveland, Houston, and we are all 5-10. Lots of 6-9 teams. I'm still going to try to win against our final opponent which is 6-9 Atlanta. However, I will rest anyone who is hurt. Bloom is out with a hyperextended knee. Baskett is questionable but will sit out. Bunkley is out with a pulled calf. Trent Green was the offensive player of the week. He completed 21 of 40 passes for 394 yards with 4 TD's 0 INT's. Eli passed for 400 yards but had 2 picks. LT led all backs with 34 carries for 165 yards and 2 TD's. Plaxico Burress led all receivers with 11 catches for 214 yards and a TD. Shawne Merriman won the defensive player of the week award. He had 11 tackles, 3 sacks, and an interception. |
