I am just watching this league from the outside, mostly because I am interested in the dynamics of the league and how the gm's will handle it.

But honestly, this flopping of these 2 players, if allowed to go through like this, and any other trades like this one, just completely throws it in the face of what the league rules were set up to do, imo.

I believe the correct term I am looking for is lame.

Subby 11-12-2008 02:27 PM

The league rules weren't set up to prevent the trade.

It's called creative thinking. ;)

I tend to side with Yoda a bit more here. This is quite obviously an exploit of the system but "it was not against the rules." Anyone that has been in a MP league before knows of this so it's nothing smart or brilliant. It just shows (the lack of) character traits that some have in order to gain a competitive advantage.

I hope it works out well for the two of you, and each owner here, but I also hope that the integrity of the league stiffens up a bit in future seasons.

RedKingGold 11-12-2008 02:51 PM

Meh. No big deal.

You can use all of the air quotes you want, but the rules are what govern my play. In fact, I specifically asked if there were any prohibited types of trades before I pulled the trigger.

*shrug*
Call it what you want, if it makes you feel better.

Then again, like Obi Wan said 'you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view'

And in my view, it's lame.

Honestly, when you start quoting Obi Wan, you lose a little footing.

I realize he's a Jedi and all, but still.

Thanks for the perspective Yoda, it's cool to have people following the league and posting their thoughts. This was a great deal as it gave us a chance to hold onto a pretty good player in a way that most people probably wouldn't have thought of initially. Here's hoping it turns out well in the end, Stefani wants another truckload to reneg.

Subby 11-12-2008 04:19 PM

BTW Yoda - I respect your opinion, I just don't agree with it.

I was just kidding around with you back there, please don't take it seriously. :)

I learned long ago not to take things on the net to seriously.

Basically my rule of thumb is, when you turn the computer off, the computer people go away.

It's all good.

It's something I thought of honestly, but I felt the way the league was set up, with the bidding, restrictions on redoing contracts and such, that it seemed to me that a deal of this type completely circumvented the rules and allow something that was meant to be not allowed to begin with.

tarcone 11-12-2008 04:41 PM

It does take the "No franchising of 1 year contracts" rule out of play.

Ben E Lou 11-12-2008 04:48 PM

Relax, guys. It's pretty much "anything goes" for one season, as we said from the start. This (and several other known smart ways to save cpa room) will be impossible to do after this year.

RedKingGold 11-12-2008 05:21 PM

God, Subby is such a dick.

RedKingGold 11-12-2008 05:28 PM

Just to help you out, there's no franchising at all in this league.

For Yoda, cool, thanks again for the thoughts. I think we're just having a good time within the rules laid out. The league's been a lot of fun so far and I think the creative restraints are helping with that. I'm sure we'll come up with some new wacky stuff to challenge ourselves with as time goes on. Hop on the waitlist. :)

tarcone 11-12-2008 06:39 PM

Thats true. Damn. Too many leagues with too many rules.

I wish I could think up a wacky thing or 2. I need a trade partner to talk things through with. That always allows for creative work to come about.
Im going to go and recruit one for the next opening. :)

Maybe if I leave one of my other leagues. Tempting.
