1852 Season Thread

Post-ST file is up. 1st half sim is tomorrow.

Young Drachma 06-19-2012 11:24 PM

First half is complete. We'll draft tomorrow night.

Cole 06-20-2012 09:47 AM

Speaking of Ed Saunders, he has 41 bombs in the first half.... On pace for 85! I hope to see the single season HR record drop this season.

Yeah, that's a crazy pace considering only two guys have ever hit 60+ in this league. Quietly, Johnny Ressano is also on pace for 62 HRs this year. Looks like a lot of moonshots coming out of Carolina this year.

Young Drachma 06-20-2012 01:39 PM

My next feature is to identify the Young Guns team...we'll pick out the Top 25 players who are under 25. We know who the stars are right now, but I'll be curious to see who the future stars are going to be, as we approach SLOP's 2nd generation in the next few years.

Young Drachma 06-20-2012 09:31 PM

That sucktastic draft is complete. We'll do the 2nd half tomorrow.

You aren't kidding... Especially for pitchers, wow.

Young Drachma 06-21-2012 09:57 AM

I'll work on that for next year's draft. That was abysmal.

I am actually happy about it though, I hope we have a few bad draft classes in a row... There are way, way way too many superstar skilled players in the league.

I thought that might be the consensus. ;)

So I didn't touch it.

Jack Raden 06-21-2012 10:22 AM

Pretty much how I feel as well - the league's starting to water down just a bit, and that's a good thing. For a while, it was like playing against 7 other All-Star teams.

On a different note, I'm glad to see Derek Campbell make the cut. As you mentioned for someone else, he's one of the first prospects I felt was truly mine - I got to watch him from the draft and through the minors and now have an outstanding career in the big leagues. I always had high hopes that he and Miguel Ramos would form a nice 3-4 in the lineup for a long time - Ramos' career has really fallen off a cliff over the last few years, though.

Young Drachma 06-21-2012 10:32 AM

OOTP probably realizes it and that's why the talent in the drafts is so bad relatively speaking.

Young Drachma 06-21-2012 12:17 PM

Speaking of, Winnemucca plans to release franchise player Jim McLean at the end of the season (the only course of action for removing the franchise tag, as it's happened before now..) We're going to use the franchise tag on Tommy Bonner after this season.

Young Drachma 06-21-2012 01:08 PM

Triple-dola...

I went through and found all of the "Unknowns" in the minors and altered their names. It'll be reflected in the file that goes out tonight. Also, I'm going to fix the name file problem finally so we stop seeing that.

Young Drachma 06-21-2012 11:34 PM

Takamasa Kichida went 4-0 in this post-season with an 0.55 ERA. He won the clinching game.

I don't even have words for that kind of performance..but congrats to the Kings. Back-to-back!!

Young Drachma 06-22-2012 11:52 PM

File is up. We'll pickup things on Monday.

chicago_gm 06-23-2012 05:48 AM

Congrats to the winner!
Chicago surprised me to even make the playoffs.

Cole 06-23-2012 08:16 AM

Back to back baby! Woo! Now the goal is to become the first team to win three in a row and continue to become the "team of the 50s!"

I definitely don't think I was the best team in the league this year but once you get to playoffs you never know. Funny that the last two years when I won it all I didn't even have a $100 million payroll. I have to fix that for next year for sure.

Great comeback from down 3-0. Sorry DC that was a rough one for your club.

So what's the exact schedule? I just exported to resign some of my guys who are potential free agents, but yeah I want to know for sure as this will be a crucial offseason for my club.

Young Drachma 06-23-2012 11:03 AM

Back to the normal schedule

MON: Sim to start of FA
TUE: FA1
WED: FA2
THU: FA3/sim to start of ST
FRI: FA4/sim to start of season

TUE: 1st half sim (7/2)

Young Drachma 06-23-2012 11:04 AM

Nice Series. Was impressed to see the comeback and avenging the loss to us in the first Series we played. It was good to get over the San Diego hump. We'll have some adjustments to make this off-season, but I'm hoping we can keep the core intact.

chicago_gm 06-25-2012 03:21 PM

Hey DC
Bobby Foster has an extension signed (as my legacy player) but it's for $0 per year. I assume that will keep him on my team but you may want to change it to the standard $100,000 per year.
Can't afford to lose him. :)

Cheers\Joe

It will keep him on your team, nothing to worry about. ;)
