WW IL - Do Werewolves Dream of Electric Sheep? Game Over, page 36
Hello everybody. Those that remember me it;s good to be back. Thank you to Alan T for his impeccable timing on ending his game on the exact day I come back from my holiday. ;)
This game, as you may have guessed from the title, will be based on the Phillip K. Dick short story "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" and the Ridley Scott film (and my personal favourite film of all-time) Blade Runner. It will take elements from both, but mainly draw from the film. The game itself will be of at least medium level complexity. The rules are still being ironed out at the moment, I will put them up in full in a few days rather than post them in drips and drabs. Numbers shouldn't be an issue, although I think we'll need at least 15 or so players but we should get that (not sure how well games have been drawing of late). I can understand if some people want to wait until the ruleset is posted before putting their name down but it should be fun anyway. One thing, as some of you will know I live in the UK, so am at least 5 hours ahead of most of you. This means that deadlines for the end of days will likely be earlier than usual for WW, 9pm EST at the latest. Just bear that in mind and if it would be a serious problem then PM me or something and I'll see if I can sort it out. Player List 1. Alan T 2. Jonathan Ezarik - Human, Sebastian, Killed Night 6 3. st. cronin - Human, Killed Night 3 4. Chief Rum 5. Barkeep49 - Exiled to Mars, Day 5 6. LoneStarGirl - Exiled to Mars, Day 7 7. Lathum 8. KWhit - Human, Killed Night 2 15. bulletsponge - Exiled to Mars, Day 2 16. ntndeacon - Human, Killed Night 5 17. twothree 18. ardent enthusiast - Exiled to Mars, Day 3 Background The year is 2019 and humanity has colonised the solar system. However, work on these colonies is dangerous and degrading so is performed by 'replicants', genetically engineered beings that posses superior strength, stamina, dexterity and technical skill to any human. The first replicants were merely crude robotic machines that had little autonomy, but the technology has progressed to the extent that the newest Nexus-6 models are virtually indistinguishable from an adult human and also posses an acute intellect and cognitive ability. This caused problems as it was discovered the longer these newer models 'lived', the more life expereince gained, the greater they started to question their submission to their human masters. After a bloody rebellion of hundereds of Nexus-6 units on Mars was eventually defeated at great cost, two measures were put in place by the manufacturers to prevent such troublesome scenarios occuring in future. Firstly all replicants were banned from Earth, restriced solely to the off-world colonies. Secondly, all advanced Nexus-6 models are now fitted with built in 4-year lifespan to prevent them from developing their own "emotional responses". It has worked perfectly. So far... It has been reported that 3 Nexus-6 replicants nearing their decommision age have hijacked a shuttle on Mars and have made it successfully to Earth. Their goal seems to be to find their designer, the head of the Tyrell Corporation conglomorate, and use him to deactivate their fail-safe switches, allowing them to extend their lives. The local police department have been informed of the situation and now have the service of at least one 'Blade Runner', a government agent who specialises in 'retiring' rouge replicants. These replicants must be dealt with quickly and efficiently before they can cause any sustainable damage. Game Rules There are two teams, the humans (villagers) and the replicants (wolves). Each day every player must cast a vote for one other player whom they wish to sent to the Mars off-world colony and thus removed from the game. Players are not allowed to proxy their vote. Players are not allowed to abstain from voting. Players who consistently fail to vote without a reasonable explaination will either be replaced or removed from the game. Various players also posses roles which allow them to take actions at night. They will PM me, the GM, and these roles will be processed simultaneously and the results posted at the morning of the next day's voting. The humans win when they eliminate all of the replicants, either through violent termination or by shipping them to Mars, or by surviving long enough that the replicants' killswitch activates before deactivivating it. The replicants win either when they gain 1:1 parity with the remaining humans or if they find both the players designated Tyrell and Sebastian. Some players will have special roles. There may or may not be other roles in the game listed than those that follow here. There may or may not be other powers that certain roles possess other than what are listed here. Replicants - One of the three replicants that have escaped from Mars, they each come in their won flavour. Leon is a Mental-C model, i.e. not very bright, but is built for mining and manual labour thus is very strong. If he is terminated violently he will kill his attacker also. Priss is a pleasure model built for military 'duties' who can use her irresitable seduction techniques to learn any other player's role. Roy Batty is the leader of the rouge Replicants and is a Mental-A model, thus possessing intelligence equal or even perhaps greater than that of the very best humans. However it is his superhuman strength that makes him dangerous, allowing him to kill other players at night. Humans - The humans have several roles which aid them in their quest to root out the replicants. Deckard is an grizzled Blade Runner who can administer Voight-Kampff tests, the only way to 100% differentiate between humans and replicants. He can also violently terminate other players. Holden is a young, inexperienced Blade Runner. He is trained in the Voight-Kampff tests but is not as handy with a pistol as Deckard. Gaff is a member of the police department who can watch over players and guide them away from replicant attempts on their life. Dr. Eldon Tyrell is the head of Tyrell Corp., the massive company that manufactures replicants. Batty believes that he can help deactivate the killswitch. J.F. Sebastian is the cheif designer at Tyrell Corp., another individual Batty believes can help the replicants in their cause. One note that is important and unusual in this game is that roles and alliegences are not revealed for players who are shiped off to Mars. Any player who is violently killed at night by the Replicants or by a Blade Runner will have whether they are a human or replicant stated. However, they will not have their role, if any, stated. All human players are forbidden from communicating with each about the game other via PM, IM or any other device unless specifically given permission in advance by me. The replicants may communicate amongst themselves freely. I reserve the right to modify, clarify, reveal or change any rules as the game progresses. DAY 1 DEADLINE FOR VOTES - 9PM EST |
Sure, I'll play.

When does the game start?

Knew I forgot something... I'll set a provisional date of Tuesday 17th for the first day of play. |
Okay, then I'm in.
|
I actually had to read this book for a college class I took.
I'm in. |

I can play this one. |
I told Jonathan he had to come back to play... I also messaged him on his birthday, I am his new best friend ;)
Anyway, I am in... I hate that we have to wait a week to get going though, some of us will go through withdrawals! |
Won't be able to make that start date - sorry to miss both of your games, Tanglewood.
I'll be following along. |
Glad to see JE back in the fold.
Do you have to have knowledge of the movie/ book? either way I am in. |
Lemme at'em!!
|

I'll try not to vote for you on day one. That's the least I can do for my new best friend. :D |
Quote:
Pardon my geekness here, but it was actually Philip K. Dick who wrote Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. Excellent book and a great movie. |
Sign me up.

Hey best friend, don't piss off the game host before the game starts! |
look, tangle, I know you're pissed off and all now, but don't take it out on me!
|
And Swaggs, for that matter.

Maybe we got jbmagiced and are ghost posting. :) |
I think its the first sign that you both are evil and are the wolves. I fully intend to vote for both of you multiple times on day 1 because of this.
|
Or maybe it's part of the game. No one knows we're playing, then...BAM! We get suddenly revealed as players, then everyone has to go back and read all of our old posts that they couldn't see before.
|
Heh, right. Next thing you know, he'll forget to put wolves in the game. Then we'll all wonder why there's no night kills.
|
Haha you guys make me giggle
|
Is this game going to be too complicated for a newbie?

Best thing to do is just jump right in. Feel free to ask if questions come up. And always remember that path is a villager. |

Except when you're not? :) Ok, I'm in. |

Path and I always feel confused. |
So we need 5 more people. Hoops and Barkeep, do your thing and invite some old people back
|

+1 |

I'll invite Path back, he's pretty old! (or older than me at least!) :) :) :) :) :) :) |
i'm in

I read that a few times and had to think a worrying amount before I realised what you were refering to there. :) |
Tangle are we going to be able to run this game with less than 15? I ask because 15 seems to be the upper end of what we can support at the moment in a game.
|
Quote:
Yeah, I can scale it. It will mean that a higher percentage of the players in the game than usual will have active roles, which means more fun for individual players but may unbalance the game in the favour of one side in particular. As said I haven't fully decided on the entirety of the rules yet so I can still make changes. Regardless, it should be very interesting. |
Well we have 13.... it would be nice if somebody could persuade Tyrth, Swaggs, neon chaos, kwhit or SNDVLS to come back for a game or too... but we still have NTN and ardent who will sign up I bet... so we should make 15.
|
Tanglewood may want to put a thread in the GD forum
|
Quote:
Wait a minute! Am I really ghostbanned? |
Quote:
Yes. Good thing I had my ghost glasses on. |
I had kind of hoped Swaggs would play too. I guess he's tired of us all here or something. We should all go visit his FTB thread and ask him why he doesn't want to play.
|
I'll play in this one.
|
Quote:
|
well if we don't have swaggs at least Kwhit is playing
|
Sonofa...!!!
|
So are we gonna start early if we get enough people. I think a monday night 1 would be great, it would reduce spill over into the weekend and subsequent dead time.
|
Every time I read the title of this thread, I keep seeing the letters as WLIX and thinking of a tv station.
