Werewolf CXXVIII - The Original Werewolves - VILLAGERS WIN
Have you ever wondered where the werewolf came from? Before they were in books and on the silver screen, before we were finding them in Vegas and on football teams, group therapy and union meetings. Where did it all get started?
They say the first werewolves appeared in the forests of Europe, in tiny villagers of farmers and timber cutters. How it all started we'll never know, maybe a wolf bite while on the way to grandma's house. Strange sounds would happen around the full moon, and then people would begin to disappear. Sometimes a whole village would never be heard from again. Those were the first werewolves. This is their story. The village of Edgewood was always small, but it's even smaller now. People began to disappear a few weeks ago. It was disturbing, yes, but not entirely unusual for people scratching a living so far into the wilderness. Soon, however, it wasn't only people missing, it was bodies found mutilated and savaged in reach of the village walls. And then last night it was within the walls. It's not just wolves, you all realized. It's werewolves, and they're already inside the village. There's so few of you left, something will have to be done now, if ever. The mayor called you all together. You have to find the werewolves and save the village. Each day cycle you will vote to lynch one member of the village, hoping to catch a werewolf. Each night the werewolves will have a chance to kill another of you. May the best players win. |
DEADLINES
10 pm EST - Voting deadline. Any votes marked 10:01 or later will not count. 11 pm EST - Dawn deadline. Any night actions must be submitted by 11:00. RULES No editing of posts. No quoting of any private messages, from the moderator or otherwise. No discussion of the game outside the thread. VICTORY CONDITIONS The village will win if all werewolves are removed from the game. The werewolves will in if their numbers ever equal the number of villagers left in the game. VOTING Every day the village votes for who they wish to lynch, in hopes of catching a werewolf. The villager who receives the most votes will be lynched at sundown. In order to vote, please post your vote in bold and on a separate line. You may change your vote at any time before the deadline by posting an unvote and then a new vote, both in bold. You may vote No Lynch, and if No Lynch gains the most votes, there will in fact be no lynch. You may vote Nightfall. In order to go forward, Nightfall votes must be unanimous and will still be dependent on my availability. Tie votes will be resolved by whichever candidate has the longest held vote on them ROLES Possible roles in the game include: Villager Roles The Seer - Everyone knows that some have a second sight, an ability to see more than a normal villager. A seer can spend the night in a trance and examine one player. They will be informed at dawn whether that player is a wolf or not. The Bodyguard - Some have a natural protective instinct, and courage to match. The bodyguard may choose one player to guard every night. If that player is targeted for a wolf kill, the kill will be prevented. The bodyguard may guard himself, but may not guard the same player twice in a row. The Martyr - Some are generous of heart, but less strong in body. This player may choose to protect another player. If that player is targeted for a wolf kill, the martyr will be killed instead. The Mayor - The mayor has more clout than a regular villager. Once per game he may choose to change a lynch result, from the lead vote recipient to the player who came in second. The Woodsman - Some villagers are just tougher than others. The Woodsman is the only one of you who could last in a tussle with a wolf. The Woodsman counts as two villagers for purpose of victory conditions (i.e. if he is the last villager alive with a single wolf, the village wins). In addition the woodsman is tough, he may survive one nightkill but only one. Wolf Roles Werewolf - All werewolves in the game know of each other and may communicate through private messages. They may choose one player during each night phase to kill. Traitor - The traitor is a human, and so will not be discovered by the seer. However, the traitor hates his fellow villagers and wishes the werewolves success. He begins the game knowing the identities of the werewolves, although they do not know him. Each night he may choose a player and will be told at dawn whether that player is the seer or not. The traitor wins only if the wolves win, but counts as a villager for victory condition purposes. |

I'm thinking probably 9 pm EST, 10 PM night orders deadline.

As long as you don't have a noon deadline I am in :)
CF, did you want to sign up or were you just editing?
I needed to take a break after Amazing Race but didn't. Godfather really stressed me out so I really need a break now. Plus I've got Abe helping me with the rules and pointers for a game I have. So for now I'll pass. Altho maybe after a couple days of actual rest away from the computer I'll change my mind. :)
Rules added, I'll be going with a traditional game here. Let's see if you guys remember how to play ;-)
I'll play
I'll play.. I'll be travelling back to the US (hopefully) next Weds so I won't be around much then, but other than that should be available

I'm going to pass on this one. I would love to get into a back to the basics game to try to get back on my game but I doubt that time will pemit (though the deadline is good). We have a major Go Live tomorrow and I have been put on notice that I may have to travel there at a moment's notice.

We've got ten now. Let's wait and see what sort of reaction we get from the Monday crowd. I'll plan on a Monday night start with Tuesday day 1.
I will join up.
Newbie here, I've a played a few face to face games around the campfire and watch a couple here. Count me in.
In. I am on spring break but also have some weird demands on my time at the moment so my participation might be irregular.
I'm in.

Awesome, it's great to have you. This is a good game to jump in on, nothing confusing. |

I knew we'd suck you in! Awesome. |

i predict no one will ever vote for you since no one will feel like trying to figure out how to spell your name |
Since when have people tried to spell names right?
Sign-ups are open until 10 pm EST. I'll send out roles then, with the first deadline being tomorrow at 10 pm.

true...it took lathum 120 games to spell "villager" |
And I still can't spell "some far programmer"
All right, roles going out in the next few minutes. I'll post here when game is on.
All roles have been sent out. Play may begin. First voting deadline is Tuesday, 10 p.m. EST. The Night deadline will then be 11 pm EST.
Neither the villager nor the wolves know which, if any, or all, roles are in the game.
I'm a simple barley farmer. That's right, I make your beer. You don't want to hurt me, or my three hot daughters. Don't come near them or you get the crossbow!
14 players, pretty basic game, so I would say we're looking at 3 wolves and probably a cultist in all likelihood. I can't see just two wolves and a cultist. Especially since it appears there are no wolf roles.
Seriously, it feels like a long time since I've had any kind of useful role. But as I remember hoops saying in one of the first few games I played, being a vanilla villager is often the most fun, as you don't have pressure on you to survive and get to analyze things with a clear head.
Villager checking in.
Checking in, pretty sick, will read up on rules and such tomorrow
Villager here. I'm looking forward to being a lot more active this time around unlike last game.
