Back
School ended Friday, and I was up in Columbus soon after to watch Milford play in the State Championship baseball game. We were heavily favored, but lost, 4-3. :( 30-3 season isn't too bad though. Just disappointing to have a team go two years in a row to state and lose both times, especially knowing we'll never be back being a public school that cannot 'recruit'. This class of 2003 who took us both years was really amazing, our CF got drafted by the Dodgers and our starting pitcher is going to be a major league pitcher I promise you that. He never lost in his four years @ varsity level.

Is see the one guy who got drafted. Did the pitcher not get drafted or something?
|
Dola
I think it is your pick in the RWBL Draft too. :) |
Not as bad as the baseball team at my school that went 30-1 in the regular season, than lost in the first round of regionals, now that loss was disappointing.
I was wondering where you were... |

He got drafted 7 rounds later because he signed for college in his junior year so I don't think anyone wanted to waste a high pick on him. |
what was his earned run average?
|
Evan Smith right?
|
damn, he's pretty good...

Wah! How about that GCL sweep, Shorty? Football: Elder, Basketball: Moeller, Baseball: St. Xavier. It's the first division 1 conference major sport tri-fecta in OHSAA history.
Actually, congrats to Milford, they had a great season and certainly took it to Moeller this year. It was nice to see them dominate the GMC in one of the major sports for a couple of years. Hopefully they can sustain their success. |

yep.. don't know his ERA offhand though. |
Found things... this is from Kent State's website on their new recruits:
"Smith is a 6-5, 175-pound, right-handed pitcher who earned first-team All-Greater Miami Conference honors as well as being first team all-city selection as a junior. He posted a perfect 9-0 record and a 1.10 ERA, while tossing six complete games with two shutouts for Milford, helping to lead the team to a runner-up finish at the Division I state championship. Rembielak on Smith: “We like Evan’s athleticism and projectability as he matures and gains strength. His size is very exciting to work with and he possesses excellent coordination for his height on the mound, which isn’t always easy for young athletes.” 9-0, 1.10 ERA as a junior. 10-0, 0.92 ERA as a senior. I think more kids might have been drafted, I'm not sure. The top three GMC batters all were from Milford this year... but I'm not sure. |
Congrats on the draft picks and I hope to see them in the majors
in the next couple of years . |
