Copy of the FOFC Dictionary
 

Another thread gave me reason to go back to the old board and review the FOFC Dictionary. I looked to see if we had a copy of the FOFC Dictionary here on the new board, but only found a link. So, to preserve this little bit of history, I thought I would undertake the task of copying it over. Hope nobody minds. Heck, SkyDog might even want to sticky it from time to time for newbies.

Forgive me as I try to determine the best way to format the entries.

Wigslam - Noun; To have the most recent post in each of the different forums. Now an impossible accomplishment due to the archive forum being locked to posting. For a short while, was a very common, and very annoying practice.

IWS - noun; I'm With Stupid. Game derivitive of Make Mine Rare. Popularized in summer of 2002 by Quiksand. Objective is to answer a series of (usually) 6 questions with the same answers as everybody else. Has passed its heyday, but still popular.

PING - noun/verb; Used to grab the attention of another FOFC member, usually to announce an incoming PM. Possibly first used by forum member ez, but no conclusive evidence exists.

(Editor's Note - Use of PING has been reduced drastically since moving to the new board. The ability to receive notification of PM's has limited it's use)

Post Count - noun; The number of posts a member has made on the board. In ancient times, 50 posts would make you a grizzled veteran, but that function is now broken. When talking post count, always remember, it is quality, not quantity.

I always remember your comments when ez posted his picture. Something along the lines of it being similar to a picture of bigfoot. Very blurry, no solid evidence, etc...

Ghostbump: To bump a thread to the top of the list, then delete the post so that no one knows who did it and why there is suddenly an irrelevant, ten-month old topic at the top of the forum. Also goes by the term "advertising" or "humor" (if you are Wignifty).
Shutout: To create a topic that gets no replies. Very rare since Wignifty's appearance on the board.

Hyperspace, The Void, The Black Hole: Page 2 and beyond of the general discussion forums.

Ghostbump Dola: To bump an old topic to the top of the list when your post is currently the last post, then erasing the post that got it there. Sometimes used in an attempt to avoid getting a ThreadKills.

Ghostbump Dola Bust: Getting caught Ghostbumping, like what Kodos did to Wignifty by deft use of the "Who's Online" feature of the board.

Ghostbump Dola Bust Black Hole Shutout Threadkill: You start a topic, but no one posts a reply, so you dola a reply when it hits the second page, get caught by Kodos doing this, then erase the dola post but still no one replies, and eventually you forget about it as it drifts back to The Black Hole, giving you the ulimtate ignominy of a Ghostbump Dola Bust Black Hole Shutout Threadkill.
