Franklinnoble 07-09-2003 04:25 PM

What's the reason for having a can not cut list?

sachmo71 07-09-2003 04:29 PM

I set up a league and didn't have a problem with a draft time, LK. Maybe check again?

TLK 07-09-2003 04:32 PM

Yep.... they just opened everything up...... how about a Saturday afternoon?

TLK 07-09-2003 04:37 PM

If most of us can agree with this we'll stick with it....

My guess would be to avoid the losers who start off 0-4, then decide to release all their players into free agency just to screw up the league.

Nice idea, but I don't understand why it would stay on even if a player got hurt. That's just strange.

TLK 07-09-2003 04:41 PM

Here's Yahoo's explanation-

Quote:

How does the "Can't Cut" list work?
Many of the best players in the game will be on this list throughout the season. When a player is on the list, he cannot be waived from a team under any circumstances ... even if he is injured.
The "Can't Cut" list, which will be updated when necessary to account for injury or performance issues, will prevent managers at the bottom of the standings from changing the league dynamics by waiving all of their outstanding players. Players will be added and removed from the list as appropriate during the season.

This list does not effect your ability to swap a player between active and bench, or make a trade involving him.

The "Can't Cut" list applies to all leagues, Public and Custom, in Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football and cannot be modified or eliminated from individual Custom Leagues.

tucker342 07-09-2003 04:43 PM

August 2nd will be fine with me.

sachmo71 07-09-2003 04:44 PM

coo. I like the can't cut list, also.

What I read into it was that they would stay on if they were injured. However, they would reevaluate the list throughout the season and if their injury turns out to end their season then they will update the list. Makes sense I guess.

I think you could screw up the league more by trading all your talent to one or two teams, as opposed to just cutting them.

True, but trades are easy to reverse. If all the players get dropped and then picked up by other owners, Yahoo usually won't bother stepping in to fix it.

mrsimperless: After seeing Yahoo's explanation, yes, I read it the same way.

sachmo71 07-09-2003 05:02 PM

Trades can be vetoed. Waivers are a free-for-all.

Passacaglia 07-09-2003 05:10 PM

This is applying to private leagues, too? I mean, if me and nine friends I trust want to form a league, why do we have to be treated like babies?

Edit- I was wrong, it is optional in pay leagues

I agree... I think it should be optional in private leagues.

lynchjm24 07-09-2003 05:46 PM

Why do the draft August 2nd, when the season doesn't start until after Labor Day? Why subject your rosters to a month of pre-season injuries as well as the playing time shakedowns?

FrogMan 07-09-2003 06:52 PM

I agree with lynchjm, why do it so early?

Also, how about a little roll call. I see 8 team names in there, but other than my team, I don't have a clue who's who :)

I'll start it, my team is the Quebec Rebels.

So here goes:
FrogMan -- Quebec Rebels

Oh, okay, why mess with tradition. Whatever is fine with me. I'm just used to play in leagues where we draft at the very last minute, like finish the draft the Tuesday before the first Thursday :)

I'm so tempted to take Vick, but since I have the first pick, I'll probably go with Preist Holmes... unless he's not all the way healed, than I obviously won't...

I hear Holmes might hold out until he gets a new contract.

Would it be possible to start up a B-League for FOFC members? I saw this thread late but would be interested in gauging interest...

Yeah, but you'd only be allowed to draft Arena Football and NFL Europe players. ;)

ctmason 07-11-2003 12:34 PM

You know, that would actually be kinda cool.

TLK 07-23-2003 11:37 AM

Ok guys- With the draft rapidly approaching, two points of interest.

1- Should we shorten the bench to maybe 5. Reason being twofold that the draft might take forever and the quality down there will be lacking. I'm thinking 6. Thoughts...

2- Has anyone looked at the scoring and seen anything that should be changed? It's basically the default, with the exception that I lowered Rec. Yards to 1 for every 15 yards, to possibly make WR's more valuable. Thoughts...

I'd be fine with 6, but not under that. It'd always nice to have a little bench. People thinking the draft will be long can always leave before the end of it. Once the season has started, it's always nice to have a bench spot for a out-of-nowhere F/A pickup...

I don't have anyt problem with the scoring rules, other than the 6 points for a passing TD for a QB. This, imo, gives too much importance to the QB position. I've always been in leagues where passing TDs were counted at 4 points per TD.

Anybody else feels that way?
