ESPN Radio reports Kidd and Mourning to the Nets
ESPN Radio is reporting a story out of Washington D.C has Kidd resigning and Mourning signing as FAs with the Nets..
Nothing can be confirmed by the teams since they are not allowed to talk about free agents yet. |
The local DC sports radio stations are reporting the same story...
|
Maybe some NJ people can confirm (cthomer, sabotai, isdiqui sp?).
The "Mourning" signing would be really nice ! |

Yes, I think ESPN Radio got the story from the DC Radio stations. They are commenting that this story might be broken on the John Thompson show later this afternoon on which Mourning is to be a guest. |
I don't know what Kidd and Mourning are thinking. I guess they'll have a great time winning the Eastern Conference and getting punked by the Lakers in the Finals. If they really wanted to have any kind of title shot, they should have gone to San Antonio. Kidd, Duncan, Mourning and a solid bench would at least make a series against L.A. competitive. It will not be that way with the Nets. Enjoy dominating the East New Jersey!

I'm not a big basketball fan, but it's nice to hear about a player who "wants to win a championship" finally having the stones to stick around with his team to do it, instead of being parachuted on to some other team and gravy-training their way to a ring.

Whoa, Cuban is gonna be PISSED!! Now what do the Mavs do?

Fixed that for ya. :) |

Well we don't know anything either :D. Though ESPN has it on their front page... so if it's false, it's a BIG egg on face of ESPN. And remember, the Nets took San Antonio to six games. Who knows, if they keep adding talent like this, maybe they CAN pull off an upset win. After all, one day the East will rise again :p. |

And it will be with the Pistons! |
Not with Alonzo and Kidd in NJ it won't :p.

Is Dikembe retiring?

No kidding. The Mavs are in SERIOUS trouble now... :( |

... Eddy Curry.... Jamal Crawford.... Tyson Chandler... We will be back. |
Can't say as I'm the least bit surprised Kidd is staying. Why should he leave? He's been to the finals twice with this team, and under the cap rules they could offer him a lot more money than anybody else. Why not stick around with a proven winner that is already close to winning it all and get a lot more money doing it? Totally makes sense to me. As for Zo, let's see if the guy even plays in the opener before passing any judgement on that move. If he can play, then it's a hell of a move. If he can't, well they took a chance and blew it. When you're that close to a title I guess it's worth the shot, but there are other guys out there proven to be healthy.

Actually the Nets and Spurs could have offered virtually the same amount. The difference was like 5 mil which and Texas has no state income tax, so the money would virtually be the same. Quote:
Who is out there that is readily available? PJ Brown? Nesto? I'd rather take my chances with Mourning. |

That Kansas kid who I don't know how to spell his name. The return to dominance! :D |

Yeah, the Mavs are still weak at third point guard. |
Hey maybe the Nets are the forth best team in the West now! Congrats:D

Kirk Heinrich... I thought T.J. Ford would have been a better pick if they were going for a PG. I dont understand though, they already have Jamal Crawford who showed flashes of brilliance late in the year. Why take another PG? And fuck Miami for taking D'wayne Wade those bastards. |
I actually liked the draft pick. Eddy Curry turned into a monster at teh end of last season and is going to command double (last year he was even being triple-teamed!) this season. The Bulls needed someone who can shoot and that's Hinrich's specialty. I see him getting a lot of points if Eddy works on his passing skills over the summer.
