Kazaa users - help

I'm not sure how many of you use Kazaa (or Kazaa-Lite) but I've been using it ever since Napster went down and have absolutely loved it for music and movies (not all porns either!). Recently however I've noticed some songs I've tried to download have made it about 13-20 secs before turning into some static/modem noise throughout the rest of the song. I'm not sure if this is just some artists way of stopping the whole media sharing scene (ala Metallica) or if it's just some disturbance among certain users. If anyone has read anything about this, please give me some heads up. Thanks.

I'm not sure what it is, but I had the exact same problem downloading one song:

"In Da Club" by 50 Cent

I was looking to put it on a party mix for a friend of mine, and settled for a version that was clearly taped off the radio.

yeah that's the new filter that kicks in when you try and download crap music

;)

Hi, this is the RIAA, we'd like to have a word with you regarding your use of Kazaa...

Just kidding. Actually, I read somewhere a few months ago that the record companies are actually posting bogus songs via some of the file-sharing systems (Kazaa, Morpheus, etc). The idea is to discourage file downloading by bloating the services with bad files.

Obviously, the strategy is working so well that now the RIAA is talking about jailing heavy users of Kazaa.

In related news, the RIAA is still searching for the bandit behind an audio puzzle that was circling the internet a few weeks ago.
