Temporary rankings as of week 20.02
 
Here are the rankings as they stand after this week's league games. Since the cup matches are still to be played in the week and many teams may get better ratings in their cup match than in their league match, they will remain unofficial until after the cup matches for the week. On Wednesday, I will start a thread asking you to post your ratings for your cup match if you think they are better than your league match rating. Only teams that will have posted their cup ratings before the deadline I will have set will see their best ratings (between league and cup) used for this week. Once I will have posted the official (and final) rankings for the week, I will not go back and adjust for past weeks. Keep your eyes opened on Wednesday.

I'll get to the rankings in a moment, for now, some explanations...
- TW stands for "This Week"
- LW stand for "Last Week"
- The first set of numbers (to the left of the team names) represents the relative ranking of every team. A blank in either column means that team wasn't ranked that week.
- The second set of numbers (to the right of the FOFC member name) represents the rankings points scored for the last two week.
- The rankings points for a given week are calculated using a weighted moving average of that week's NSI points and the score of the previous two weeks' NSI points.
- "NSI points" is the sum of all your position ratings from your game report, with midfield counting as triple its value
- Ratings are scored with the base value set at disastrous = 1, wretched = 2, and so on.
- If your team doesn't play its game because of a walkover, your rating for the game in question will be ignored in the weighted average and the remaining ratings will be used.
- "exper" stands for the number of weeks of Hattrick experience the user has, that is the date of the day minus the date he got his team, divided by 7.

The NSIs you haev there is what I have in my spreadsheet, however, what appears above is your rankings score. It's a weighted average of your last three weeks with a weight of 3 being placed on the latest week, a weight of 2 on the second latest and a weight of 1 on the oldest of the three weeks.

For your team, this week's rankings score is (49*3 + 46*2 + 43*1) / 6 = 282 / 6 = 47. Same calculation can be made for last week to end up at 44. What's draggin your team's ranking score is that 43 you posted two weeks ago...

I shall rise again, on Wednesday, when I face the EVIL Arkham Avengers who might ruin my season by beating me when I'm getting 14 new supporters per update just before a big home game against # 2 in the series.

If I get lucky and beat them I'm sure to lose the following week, but I don't have a home game then, so it's OK. In other words, do the right thing and throw the game nyarlahotep :D

MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! We shall crush you like a beer can on our forhead. Now that we have returned to our spot in the top 15 we will destroy all who oppose us. I will play my meanest, nastiest, ugliest players and demand that they cripple your two best starters and burn down your concession stands.

PS- In the unlikey event of you losing, your supporters shouldn't be effected much since you are technically the underdog in this game.

Se my reply to Kevin's question. I always use the 3 most recent weeks. For example, for this week, the equation is this:

(3*20.02 + 2*20.01 + 1*19.14) / 6

Where 20.02 is the NSI for week 20.02, etc...

The weights are 3, 2, and 1 and I divide by 6.

Cool, that's almost exactly what I started with -- I used 50%, 33%, and 17%.

And somehow I missed that it had already been posted in the thread. :o

Well, you got exactly the same weights, with only the percents rounded, that's all. 3/6 is 50%, 2/6 is 33.333% and 1/6 is 16.667%...
