Is it worth training passing?
I ask because only 9 of my 20 field players are at least inadequate in passing.
Would increasing my teams passing greatly improve my team? Only 4 of my 10 starters are at least inadequate in passing. oh, and how much could i get for a passable PM/solid winger 20 year old? |
The experts will tell you it is stupid.
Schmuck that I am, I think it depends on your situations, what you need and what your intention is. As "only" a secondary rating, it will not bring you big money. Your inadequate playmaking/excellent passing midfielder won't bring you the kind of money that an excellent playmaking/inadequate passing midfielder will. So as a long term training plan, it's a loss. On the other hand, if your midfielders and forwards are young and you'd like to increase your attacking abilities, it can be worthwhile (look at what effects attacks and you can see where it can be helpful - I wouldn't touch 4-5-1 without a lot of passing skill). If you have a lot of inadequates passers and you'd like to add some value for when you sell them, it can also be useful. If you have it in mind to try out counter-attack when it comes in, passing amongst your defenders will be needed. So, I'd keep in mind what you need and what you want to do. (Of course, my constantly nosediving ranking in Frogger's FOFC rankings may be an indication that you should take what I say with a grain of salt. :D) |
I know a guy that is going to train passing for a season or two. It isn't really stupid, just not as profitable as other types of training. In fact, I would imagine that it could really help your attack is you stuck with it for long enough. However, a level of passing just isn't worth as much on the market as a level of a primary skill.

well, at least right now, I want a winning team more than a training team. I've probably only made around $100-120K off my trainees (just takes too long to pop). I've made far more off just selling youth pulls (around $1 million).

Well keep in mind, I'm just guessing that it will help your attack quite a bit. I've never trained passing (well actually I did for my very first two weeks) or talked to anybody that has.

The problem is it can take 6-8 weeks to improve passing. Most of the guys I want to improve are 20 or 21 (one is 27 and another 29). I don't know if I want to hold off PM training for 8 weeks.

If you are training them for selling, probably not worth the time you lose.
