First newsgroup post
Feeling a bit nostalgic (and trying to avoid writing this history paper), I did a quick google search and found this:
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=ji...g.net&rnum=262 From what I gather, this is the first mention of Front Office Football on usenet. I found out about it 2 months later: http://groups.google.com/groups?q=wi...ews.com&rnum=8 Who else was part of the "pre-FOFC" community? |
and my aborted attempt to create the first FOFC (just kidding):

i was. I think i read Jim's initial announcement and purchased FOF shortly thereafter.
|
How did we find info on the internet before Google?
|
usenet and/or irc. or some other pay service for forums (ala GEnie)
|
I was...kind of. I read about FOF on the newsgroups but never posted. I kind of forgot about FOF for awhile and then found FOF again during The Sideline days.
|
Ah, yes, The Sideline. I didn't join it until late 1999 or so. Are those posts archived?
|
Nope, The Sideline is gone forever... :(
I wasn't part of the community until after FOF2 came out... |
still bored...
Was FOF originally a java application? http://groups.google.com/groups?q=ji...co.uk&rnum=271 |

damn! Those archives would certainly be entertaining. Does Tony Wyss have access? |
I'm pretty sure that everything got erased when Dave Dial and Stix took over and The Sideline was abandoned for FOFC...

which begs the question: what happens if Sportplanet folds... |
Here.....me, me. I was. I made one of the very first purchase's of FOF ever and still have the CD.
|
No, but i did jump on board sometime during the Sideline period........i think towards the last few months ......
