What do I do now?

So, i've got my new team. #7 in VI.2 so i'm not in the cup.

My upgraded arena is going to have a friendly the day after it's complete (thanks, Havok).

I've got HAM and have my team in it. I see a selection for A/B squads. I assume people use this for League vs. Cup/friendlies?

I've got 6 17-18 yo trainee midfielders. i've upgraded my coach to passable/poor (coach/leader). My training is now set to stamina during the off season. Now, what should I be looking at doing next?

Should I sell off my original players? Keep them? Fire them?

thanks,

Any older player not worth giving a paycheck to, should be shown the door.

Eddie Ragland
0 US$, 40 years, weak form
Has wretched experience and poor leadership abilities [Quick]
This is your old coach right? Fire him takes up space.

Then you need to get down to about 17 or 18 players, 26 is to many to have right now for starting out. I see you've bought 6 players, all trainable.

By looking at your division, how a team can score 49 goals and still not win the series is beyond me. A very weak division. I would just concentrate on building up your money, by training your young guys in goalkeeping, scoring or playmaking. Your passable coach should do just fine for now. You could've gotten a solid/ weak for about $268,000 I think.

I would play a basic 442 for now, until you get better experience. Shoot I've played for 3 seasons, and I'm still learning. Older players with no potential bad, youth good, by the way start investing in youth 20,000. For your assistants 8 for outfield skills, 2 for keepers. If training keepers: 8, 2 for outfield.

Keep coming back to FOFC for advice, there are a lot more experienced players than me. Also read the Hattrick forums.

Switch back to PM once you get into the regular season, then wait until you've made enough money to make a move. You'll probably need to upgrade your team, but it'll take time to accumulate the money to do it.

Ultimately, you shouldn't have any players whose primary skill is lower than inadequate. It might take you a little while before you've acquired enough new players to do this, though. It took me six or eight weeks before I dumped my last weak player.

being in VI I wouldn't get the full compliment of trainers as it'll be hard to afford without cup matches. I'd say

A: weekly cost $15,000

1 GK
4 Asst
4 Spokes
1 Physio

B: weekly cost $22,500

1 GK
4 Asst
5 Spokes
5 Physios

C: weekly cost $22,500

2 GK
8 Asst
4 Spokes
1 Physio

A for affordability at cost of high injury risk and medium training
B for lower injury risk & medium training
C for higher injury risk but slightly better training

you're training midfielders so don't waste time playing 4-4-2, especially not in the offseason. play 3-5-2 in both friendlies and get your experience with it up.

to determine which players you should keep/release you need to list your team here.

cut your squad to a MAX of 22 players (with or without coach) I'd go smaller than 22 since your not in the cup

3-5-2: excellent
4-4-s: excellent
all others: poor

Old Coach Eddie Ragland sacked.

What's the basic consideration to selling versus cutting a player?

gk:2

primary skills for the position..
e.g.
the Two inner midfielders with inadequate playmaking i can get rid of and keep the other eight that are all passable? I know I won't keep all eight, just trying to get a picture of what the team should look like.

TIA,

Basically, whether you CAN sell him. Anybody below inadequate in their primary skill will not sell, at all, unless he's a clown or you get super lucky and get a n00b to bite on him. Even inadequates may be a dubious proposition for sale, but it's likely to be a while yet before you have surplus inadequate players.

So basically, that means that when you want to dump a player who's weak or less in their primary skill, you fire him.

(Primary skill = keeper, PM, scoring, defending)

I'd say add another assistant coach and another spokesperson since those will pay a lot of dividends in the long run. Also, ratchet up your training to 95% and get 1 physio- I got very few injuries with this combo and it allows for more training.
