80 Seconds of....

Joe Stallings got me to do this...

Ben E Lou 11-03-2003 12:59 PM

This...and some actual real songs, can be found at the new .400 Software Studios Radio Network. Hurry on over and listen. Sign-up is free.

Ksyrup 11-03-2003 01:00 PM

Can someone please verify that this is safe for work? :D

Ben E Lou 11-03-2003 01:01 PM

There's music and audio commentary over there now. This thing could be a LOT of fun. (The radio station I mean...)

ice4277 11-03-2003 01:04 PM

SD, when does the shizzle on the dizzle go down ;)

ice4277 11-03-2003 01:07 PM

dola

At least its better than the Marky Mark currently being played on the .400 radio station :D

Neuqua 11-03-2003 01:07 PM

That was the funniest thing I've heard all morning.

Nice.

Ben E Lou 11-03-2003 01:08 PM

HornedFrog Purple 11-03-2003 01:14 PM

LOL....even though it is accompanied by acoustic guitar???

HornedFrog Purple 11-03-2003 01:20 PM

Well you are doing both at the same time... did you do that from memory? I miss a rap or two unless I hear the song that's major props.

Yeah....but I left out a couple of words....it should be "lean money-makin' machine, servin' fiends"..I think I just said "lean makin'-money machine"

It isn't that impressive though. I have a ridiculous song lyric memory (both rap and traditional)...

LOL! SD, do you know or have you heard of David Ryan Harris? He's an Atlanta-based (well, now I think he's in LA, but he's from Atlanta) musician - a black guy who plays acoustic guitar - who plays every now and then at Smith's Olde Bar. I'm trying to swing a trip up to see him for a show. Anyway, I got a bootleg of a show of his from last Christmas, and he was talking about having a couple of songs on the soundtrack of that Denzel Washington/Kid Rock movie, and then suggested that they should make a movie about a black guy who plays acoustic guitar, because it would be far more compelling.

You, DRH, and Bernie Williams should do a tour...

Strangely enough, I'm not a big acoustic music follower. I have a very limited number of acoustic-oriented artists that I listen to: Ed Cash, Vance Gilbert, Allen Levi, Bebo Norman, David Wilcox, and that's about it really. My exercise/work-in-the-yard MP3 player is mostly a mix of rap and country. (I know....)

MrBug708 11-03-2003 01:31 PM

Skydog's been in the game for 10 years? :D

How was Compton BTW?

That is interesting. DRH was a member of Follow For Now, an all-black Atlanta hard rock band, something along the lines of Living Colour but a bit more underground. Their cover of Public Enemy's She Watch Channel Zero remains a favorite cover of mine to this day. They got screwed in a record company mess and broke up in the early 90's, and he went on his way, releasing a solo album of mostly light funk/rock/R&B in the mid-90's, and then was Dionne Farriss' guitarist/producer for that one hit song she had several years back. He's doing the solo thing now, mostly acoustic R&B/rock, and most recently, playing in John Mayer's backing band on SNL a few weekends ago. He's largely unknown, but one of my favorite artists.

Draft Dodger 11-03-2003 01:46 PM

I have no words

Noop 11-03-2003 02:14 PM

LOL Skydog!!! You trippin on something lol!! Dre putting it down for Cal A for nia!!! The ending was too funny.

Follow For Now played at a Halloween party at my Fraternity not too long before the botched record deal. I think I still have the "commemorative" t-shirt.

You know, you judge a Fraternity party by how good the band was, how much you drank, and if you got laid. It was a QuikSand party - it was 2/3 good. Too bad I was too drunk to remember how good Follow For Now was.

Oh, that reminds me:

Q: How many Fraternity guys does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A: Four - One to screw, one to tap the keg, and two to make a t-shirt about it.

sabotai 11-03-2003 04:53 PM

And to think, I couldn't beleive anything could be worse than his previous one. :)

Hey!

oykib 11-07-2003 08:13 AM

You know if we send this link to the right people Skydog's got a chance to get as big as the Star Wars kid.

Joe Stallings 11-07-2003 08:19 AM

You guys should check out the station. I do a scan of the FOF, .400 and OOTP boards and give my take (for whatever that's worth...) on some of the threads.

Going to Best Buy today to get a phone so I can handle call-ins. Anyone know of a phone that has RCA outs?

Senator 11-07-2003 08:57 AM

greatness. pure greatness.

CamEdwards 11-07-2003 06:41 PM

that was... quite entertaining Ben.

CamEdwards 11-07-2003 06:42 PM

dola:

You need to a theme to my talk show. I'm thinking kind of an acoustic Sinatra vibe. You up for it? :)

JeeberD 11-08-2003 12:50 AM

I actually listened to the .400 Network for most of the afternoon. Rather entertaining. I can't wait until they get the Troy and Chief show up and running...

Are you serious, and do you have something specific in mind?
