Which head coach would you like to have lead your favorite team?
 

I was going to make this into a poll, but figured I would get the usual "how could you forget Jeff Fisher?" questions (he was my 11th nominee), so instead I will leave it free form so everyone can choose their true favorite.

If I could hand-pick the new coach for the Dolphins, I would go with.... (drum roll please)














Jon Gruden. He's young, talented, hard-working, offensive-minded, and likable. He barely edges my other favorite active coach, Mike Shanahan. I favor a strong offensive coach over a defensive guy like Dungy (who I still really like) or Marvin Lewis.

So who would you like to see take the reins of your favorite team?

I'd like to see Ditka come back and coach the Bears. Maybe some of his toughness would rub off on the team, especially the defense.

Next, I'd like Dungy or Gruden. Very intense coaches with good ideas for both sides of the ball.

If It was someone from college, I'd take Stoops from OU. Have you seen that OU D? Very good...

I'd like to see the Redskins bring back Joe Gibbs.

While we're at it, let's find a way to re-animate Jack Kent Cooke.

I really like Mike Tice. He doesn't try to do too much. He lets his assistants do there thing and just tries to manage. He is a few years from really showing any he can make it over an extended period of time, but the way he has brought the Vikings together with Moss and Company is amazing.

I think Spurrier will be good. He is just having troubles adapting his offense to the NFL. Give him a few years and things will be great I think.

You would be suprised how much you can learn from being intimate with a pig. They are quite intelligent animals.

Yeah, the guy knows too much about offense and is just too driven to be crappy forever. It won't be long before there is an entire pro offense that every team is copying that he started and perfected.

I think Spurrier is partly to blame. The piss-poor pass protection can't be anything but bad coaching. The Redskins IMPROVED their OL in the offseason, and the blocking has gotten worse.

I think Snyder is largely to blame. I don't mind Norv Turner getting canned - he was a drag. But I think we could have kept Schottenheimer around a little longer. And I'd prefer to see the Redskins playing smashmouth football over all this fun and gun nonsense.

What's funny is, I was actually rooting FOR the Cowboys against the Redskins, because it is just so much fun to watch Spurrier suffer. Of course, part of me wanted the Cowboys to lose because they had more riding on the game.

I'd like Tice or Gruden in Philly...both passionate guys and I think the fans would really eat that up about either of those guys.

Reid just seems to be too "wishy-washy" and reacts the same way to a win as he does to a loss...I don't think that's a good thing in football 'cause the season is so short and every game matters.

I think NFL coaches should be guys who wear their hearts on their sleeves...if they are pissed off...say so...if they liked what they saw...say so. No need for diplomacy in football.

And if he's not the head coach, I can't think of anyone I'd rather have as an offensive line coach.

ShakaKhan, I agree. Dennis Green, even with all the regular season wins, was a completely emotionless coach. He was a great game planner, but if a in-game revision had to be made, he was horrible. The NFC Title game in 98 was a great example of that.

All great thinkers have something wierd with them. You don't think Einstein liked hacking guys feet off? Of course he did, but we never heard about it because he was one of the greatest thinkers of our time.

I'd say Parcells. Something is just fishy to me about Gruden. I have no confidence that he'll have any sort of long term success with Tampa, or in the NFL in general.

Ah yes..... but, there was also the 38-6 game (vs. Dallas :)).... which might be the only playoff game I see the Lions win in my lifetime....

Well, I don't know who I'd want as my head coach, but I can tell you who I would want as my Defensive Coordinator and my Offensive Coordinator. George O'Leary on the D side and Ralph Freidgen on the O side.

Something tells me that you'd want John Heisman as Head Coach.

I'd agree there. I wouldn't mind seeing O'Leary in the Atlanta HC job, either.

Hmmm I am happy with my two teams, but if I had to choose..

Cowboys: Tom Landry. I miss him.

TCU: Jimmy Johnson and Jim Wacker as co head coaches. They may not win many games between them sharing war stories but it would be a hell of a press conference every week.

If we are including former coaches in their prime, Don Shula.

Seriously though, if he continues having the success that he has had so far I think Mark Richt, if surrounded by the right assistants, could make a very capable head coach in the NFL.

The guy was great after games and the players played with a passion that i haven't seen since he left he cared about them and they played their hearts out for him. Throw in his ability to coach defense and you had a contender if ownership/injuries hadn't wreaked havok we may have won a super bowl :(

3. Myself...I know I could do a better job then half the current coaches out there right now, and if we lost I wouldn't have to blame anyone else then myself.

I am very happy with Tony Dungy as the head coach of the Colts. He has left the offense alone, besides toning down the playcalling, and has improved the defense tremendously. I do love the job Bob Stoops has done with Oklahoma. They look close to unbeatable.
