I'm Going Old School

Apparently, I've had this minimalist handle lying around for some time. I've decided to start using it.

Should have kept it around in case you get banned. I don't think people would catch on. It is much too different.

I assume this is why he's grounded this weekend. Just wait 9 months man... grounded for life!

Dutch 11-04-2003 08:45 PM

Damnit, and I was so pumped to call you Franklin under your other moniker...now I'm gonna have to think of another name for you.

Easy Mac 11-04-2003 08:46 PM

cuervo72 11-04-2003 09:28 PM

Glengoyne 11-04-2003 10:03 PM

I say we call him noble.

No that sounds too complimentary.

I say we call him knob for short.

What ever happened to the member named Old School?

Franklin
Franklin met Charlie Brown at the beach in 1968. They'd never met before because they went to different schools, but they had fun playing ball so Charlie Brown invited Franklin to visit him at this house across town for another play session. Later, Franklin turned up as center-fielder on Peppermint Patty's baseball team and sits in front of her at school. Franklin is thoughtful and can quote the Old Testament as effectively as Linus. In contrast with the other characters, Franklin has the fewest anxieties and obsessions. He and Charlie Brown spend quite a bit of time talking about their respective grandfathers. When Franklin first appeared in the late 60s, his noticeably darker skin set some readers in search of a political meaning. However, the remarkable becomes unremarkable when readers learn that Schulz simply introduced Franklin as another character, not a political statement.

Speaking of which, is there a way to see the full user list?

I know I registered for this forum when I first bought TCY to ask a couple of questions. Then I lost my log in and re-registered. If I could skim the massive list I might be able to find my original user name. Whether or not I would start using that one is a different matter.

Nevermind, found it. At least I can eliminate the ones since 12/2001.

JeeberD 11-05-2003 01:26 AM

Hmmm, wonder if I should go back to "JeeberDMack"? I could ask SD to send me the correct password for that one and then FM could catch me in PPD count.

Nah, then FM would never shut up about it... :D

cuervo72 11-05-2003 07:26 AM

I was thinking more of this Franklin:

Franklin is a 6-year-old turtle with a hard shell and a soft heart. Whether it's being afraid of the dark or being nervous about any new situation, Franklin and his band of animal pals face challenges that relate to young preschoolers.

Because Franklin is a little bit older than his audience, kids can look up to him like a big brother. They follow Franklin's example of how to solve problems and how to feel good about themselves.

Behind the Scenes:
Based on books by Paulette Bourgeois and Brenda Clark, the stories are designed to empower and also reassure young children by showing that it's okay to feel happy, sad, mad, proud, and—every so often—embarrassed. Through his adventures, Franklin learns how he fits in the world and how the world fits him. Try reading some of Franklin's adventures to your children to extend the learning even further.

Even if you stopped posting right now and never posted again, ever, I think I'd still need until 2005 to catch you in PPD count :p :D

Franklin the turtle may be the most boring cartoon show in the history of the world.

It's either that or "Little Bear". It's effects are tranquilizerific.

cuervo72 11-05-2003 08:38 AM

Oh, they're both bad. I do lump those two together (their music is bad too).

Franklin 11-05-2003 10:25 AM

I was going to try for an obscure symbol or something, but I don't think this board will let me use an ampersand as a user ID.
