I bet the Burger King will offer a less generous contract.

I wonder what the history of hold outs is for 2nd through 7th rounders.

Here is a crazy holdout from my game, he finally signed after the third time. He was a stud coming into each draft. The blue bars for each category where between a 90-100. Also his agent was the toughest SOB to work with. After signing with Atlanta I looked up his ratings, which were pretty good, but not what everyone expected.

I had 2 top 5 picks hold out the entire season on me. Shouldn't we be able to trade the rights to those bastards???

I had the draft from hell last night. Had two first round picks plus the regular 2nd-7th, and with the exception of my 4th and 5th round picks, EVERYBODY HELD OUT.

I was about ready to bitchslap me some agents. They were willing to hold out over $100k in bonus money. ¬¬

Everyone of my players held out in the 1st round of negotiations. It seems almost no one wants the longer number of years even if you offer the higher money. Fortunately, everyone signed by the 3rd round of negotiations when I started offering the option with less years.

Are there too many holdouts?

I don't think so... I've yet to have a rookie hold out a whole year and re-enter, and I haven't saw many do it either for cpu teams.

Well, in my season.. I was the only one with 2nd round picks and lower holding out. All of the computer teams had all of their 2nd through 7th round picks signed. Several teams, had 1st round picks hold out longer then mine did, including the 1st pick overall.

In my opinion, if you look at the agent of the player before making the offer you can get them to sign immediately most the time.

Do holdouts ever reduce demands if you take a hard line? ie if you keep giving the same offer has any player accepted the offer after some number of weeks? I haven't seen this happen, but then I don't have the patience to deal with unsigned rookies too long, and usually cave in to them a few weeks into the regular season :confused:

I saw the #1 and 3 picks do this. I'd traded up to #2 to try and get the guy who went #1, a CB with a grade of 9.0. Reentered and went #1 overall again.

Maybe don't look at it as a holdout, just think of it as the player has decided to temporarily pursue other interests. Which, in turn, is technically a holdout. While rare, it does happen from time to time. (Eli Herring comes to mind).

I'm guessing it would happen alot more if the draft was longer though. Just can't risk picking a guy that doesn't know if he wants to play football.

I'm a purist at heart, but I think the holdout feature adds a lot to gameplay, whether true to the NFL or not. If there wasn't a possiblity for a hold-out, rookie negotiations wouldn't be worth the time.

2 first round picks, 2 second round picks, and all 5 of the other picks I had.....held out until the second week of the Exhibition season. They screwed me in the cap :(

I'm not seeing large numbers of holdouts on my team. I've yet to go to training camp without every draftee signed.

That's because they feel threatened by that picture of you on the porch. :D

The longest holdout that I had lasted until the third game of the season, but it was a mid round pick that wasn't a position of need so I wasn't in a hurry.
