Error 404 - File Not Found

Easy Mac 11-19-2003 04:18 PM

download works, but winzip says it isnt a valid archive.

Darkiller 11-19-2003 04:20 PM

ok now it works for me...funny link.
once every three tries. great work !!

sabotai 11-19-2003 04:23 PM

When I uploaded it, Dreamweaver crashed on me (and XP forgot to tell me...weird), that's why you got the invalid archive. It's working now

EDITED FOR DATED INFORMATION

MizzouRah 11-21-2003 06:18 PM

See, things such as these would really add to the game, imo. :) Ok, so I like pretty.

Nice work.

A couple of things I forgot:
The helmets are easily replaced with other pictures (like logos) if you have a fictional league.

Team colors are editable in the "fof_teams.col" file, the format is:
city name, logo name, team abbreviation, RGB values for colors (three numbers for the first color, three for the second color).

The file "default.txt" contains the starting path to the log files.

Also, thanks to MattJones4Heisman, who did the original TCY Viewer, on which this utility is based.

gstelmack 12-06-2003 10:28 AM

Just wanted to say we've finally got our multiplayer league rolling, and this has added a ton to the immersion factor. Thanks!

Glad its being put to good use.

maximus 12-06-2003 03:34 PM

3ric, that looks really nice. Good job.

DougW 12-31-2003 01:14 AM

3ric ... Awesome utility

was wondering though. Do you know how I can resize my logos without screwing them up? I am in an online league, all fictional teams, and our logos don't fit the utility right .. I got the border coloring down right, and then put the logos in .. but when I resize (using Paint) it screws up the coloring. Thanks

cwilloughby 12-31-2003 02:59 AM

Nice Util!

Maybe it's best to just create a new image with the correct size and paste in the logo centralized, without resizing?

DougW 12-31-2003 03:35 PM

nm, I have a utility that does it just fine. Thanks ...

One more thing. I've been testing to see how all the helmets and colors are looking; It seems that the utility is not closing when I close it. Yes I don't see it anymore on my screen, but if I there is a ton of programs called view ( I noticed this when I couldn't work any more, and the comp. told me I was low on resource). I had to manual close them all again from cntl alt del. Any ideas

Sorry if I sound picky about an awesome program, thought you'd want to know

doug

MJ4H 12-31-2003 03:41 PM

Thats probably my fault. I was never good at ending programs in Visual Basic. Since this app is based on my code, Im sure the fault is mine. If anyone knows how to add cleaner exit code, maybe they could help.

cwilloughby 01-08-2004 01:25 AM

Add an End command in the unload event of the main form.

3ric 01-08-2004 05:28 AM

I'll take a look at it. The program exits properly when you use the "Exit" command in the "File" menu though.

Edit:
OK, here's the updated exe file:
fof2k4viewer.exe

Right-click on the link and save to disk and replace the old executable.

I'll probably do a new, improved, version with this fix included some time, since so many people are using it now. This "patch" unfortunately introduced another problem... :o

DougW 01-23-2004 09:33 PM

Hmm. I must have gotten to this link to late. It's not working, Using the Exit command works just great though. Thanks a lot ! :)

So now that I've got Extractor 2.0 out, I figured it was time to prod 3ric with a little guilt ( :D ) and ask "so when is the improved version coming out"?

I use this to watch every single game played in our office league, but have a couple of bugs that get in the way (although it's still plenty usable even with these):
  • The aforementioned Exit problems (I can never remember to go to the menu, the "X" is just too enticing...)
  • The viewer will show "first down!" even if there's a penalty that negates a first down.
  • If a score is negated due to penalty, it still shows up in the score lists at the bottom, and it takes a few plays for the scoreboard to correct itself.
  • I've had a handful of games (like one per season) where the ball always stays on one end of the field. It dutifully marches up to the 50 yard line, then starts marching back. If you haven't seen this, I can send along a game log next time it happens.

This little tool provides me so much joy after a long night of work..... except when The Flats get their asses kicked... as in week 1...

Errr, OK, I'll get to it as soon as I can. I should be able to keep the code up during work and get to it during short periods while waiting for other stuff. I've taken stabs at solving these problems before, so they are all "known" bugs. I'll also fix a stupid error with the *.col file (the one that holds the color codes), it contains all the IHOF, CFL and NFL teams, which wasn't supposed to happen. I had a PM conversation recently with a user that had problems because of that.

Weeee! I really do use this a ton as it adds quite a bit to game immersion and helps me keep an eye on my team in multiplayer leagues. Any tweaks are greatly appreciated.

Alf 06-24-2004 11:50 AM

Just starting using it today to view last weeek Bordeaux thomping of North Plainfield. Gret work !

2 questions :

1/ How do I change the teams colors (Bordeaux Burgundy & Marine blue make it difficult to read) ?

2/ How do I upload helmet images ?

3ric 06-24-2004 12:20 PM

In the fof_teams.col file, the line for Bordeaux contains six numbers which are the two colors in hexadecimal RGB format. (example: 255, 255, 255 is white and 0,0,0 is black.) Pick two colors that look nice and enter those for your team instead and save the file.

Helmet pictures: I can upload the ones I have and post the URL, just a second...

3ric 06-24-2004 12:27 PM

Update about the new version: I have PM:ed gstelmack with the link and he's tested it a bit but there's still a bug around with TD's getting called back by penalties... I'll try to fix it before my vacation in July...

3ric 07-09-2004 07:28 AM

Bump.

A new version is up: FOF2k4viewer.zip Fixes some bugs, but nothing major.

WhooT! Thanks, 3ric!

gstelmack 07-09-2004 08:03 AM

Thanks! Downloading now, will try it out some more once we get out of our offseason.

fantastic flying froggies 07-09-2004 08:03 AM

Great news !

One question : will it overwrite everything, including the personalized fof-teams.col file ?

gstelmack 07-09-2004 08:07 AM

On my machine it asked about any files that were newer, including default.txt. So I doubt it, but back yours up just in case.

fantastic flying froggies 07-09-2004 08:08 AM

Greg, it did the same for me. Cool !

3ric 07-09-2004 08:23 AM

Yeah, don't overwrite default.txt and fof_teams.col if you want to keep the personal settings. You can just extract the .exe file and replace the old manually if you want.

Alf 07-12-2004 04:06 PM

Me changing the game speed doesn't change anything at all. It always runs on ultra slow mode.

3ric 07-12-2004 04:25 PM

That's a new one, I've never heard of anyone else with that problem...?

Alf 07-12-2004 04:46 PM

It already happened with the previous version. I am running Win XP.

3ric 07-13-2004 03:27 AM

The only thing I can think of as a cause to the problem is that the timer component (which is in an external file) has been accidentally deleted or overwritten. But that don't sound possible considering you had that problem before as well...

gstelmack 07-13-2004 08:10 AM

I just checked quickly, and moving the slider is definitely changing the viewer speed for me. XP SP1.
