Maui Invitational
I know no one cares about this but me, probably, since my alma mater the Dayton Flyers are in it. And so is Ohio State after an embarrassing loss at San Francisco.
And Chaminade is currently leading Villanova 28-20 at halftime. The same Nova team that beat Division III University of Redlands by only 11 points the other night. Bet they'll keep those phone passwords under wraps from now on, eh? |
Same Chaminade team that knocked off Ralph Sampson's Virginia team in the 80's. Chaminade has pulled of some major upsets in this tournament.

Woohoo! College hoops!
The game is now on my TV. Go Chaminade! |
Dammit, and now Nova is on a run... :(
|
Chaminade leads by 3 with under :40 to go....

Alright! Nice win for the Silver Swords!!!

Hawaii vs. Dayton tonight at 9:30.
This is your chance to see the Flyers before they get ranked in the top 20 and win the A-10 again. Be an early bandwagoneer! If they do win tonight, mark it down that they will be 9-0 going to Cincinnati on 12/23... where they haven't won in over 20 years. |
Your Flyers did a nice job against my Chippewas in the first game. Shame we only lost to Ohio State by 6 in the next consolation game. We lost essentially our top 4 players from last year's tourney squad, this year most likely will be a rebuilding effort. Good luck to Dayton this year, you guys have one of the top younger coaches in the country, Izzo produces some great talent on the bench.

The Chips will be back.

Give 'em another year, they will put up a fight in the MAC. They will play hard all season long and possibly spring an upset or two, but the guys who are starting at this point are nothing more than role-players at best, which makes it difficult, to say the least. |
As the UD radio team mentioned during that game, CMU was not prepared to lose their 2 centers this year, and they have no one in the middle to help. Imagine this team with Chris Kamen.... they would be very nice.

Yeah, while Kaman was expected to step up, it was not thought he would become as dominated as he did. He really didn't do jack shit the two years prior, so it was a bit of a surprise. Manciel was a nice complimentary player who stepped up as well, and Wallace ran the offense nicely. Meerman and Bowne, the two returning players who had any sort of appreciable playing time, really should be nothing more than backups.
