Purple, Monkey Dishwasher: Challenge #1
Okay. After a dry run with one sentence, I thought it was a bit limiting. So, to add to the comlexity and possibilities, this Challenge will involve an entire paragraph.
Rules: Following the rules will be a paragraph. Subsequent posters will take the most recently posted paragraph and perform X number of actions on it. The number of actions will be assigned and listed above the starting paragraph. List of actions that can be performed and their costs: Code:
Point |Regardless of which actions are taken, the sentence must follow the rules of proper syntax. The creation of additional sentences is prohibited. Adding articles (a, an, the) and other devices to make changes comply with syntax are free. If one or more make changes to the same paragraph, it is up to you to decide which to use. You cannot alter your own works (IOW, you cannot dola post) in the same day. Please bold your additions/changes. If you don't know how to do that, check the forum help. The easiest way to accomplish this is to highlight, copy (ctrl +c) and paste it into the reply (ctrl + v). And simply add the bold tags around your changes. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL: Break any or all of these rules as long as your contribution is in the spirit of the challenge. Any suggestions of more or better rules, please PM me. ============================================ *Roamed the net for the first novel for which I could swipe the first paragraph.* You have 4 actions per turn. 'The Haunting of Hill House' by Shirley Jackson No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids ar supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone. |
so one can never afford to remove a word? I'm confused.

I wanted to keep an ongoing rule-set (for future use if needed), and would randomly assign action points being able to limit the actions one could perform. I wanted to start out minus the ability to subtract for this challenge, but I've added to the point total to avoid more confusion. |
I thought this had something to do with guessing either purple, monkey or dishwasher...

I was wondering when that change would happen. I'm just surprised it took this long.
