As expected, owner Arthur Blank names Rich McKay Falcons GM

Falcons owner Arthur Blank announced Monday afternoon that he has hired Tampa Bay Buccanneers GM Rich McKay as the Falcons' new general manager, filling a position that has been vacant for two years.

"We are delighted to have Rich on board leading the Falcons," Blank said. "Rich brings tremendous knowledge, experience and league leadership to our club, and he shares our values and goals. He is a great fit and we are all looking forward to working with him."

Blank's comments during a press conference at the team's headquarters at Flowery Branch.

The move comes four days after McKay was released from his contract with Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay.
Atlanta fired head coach Dan Reeves last week, then lost to the Indianapolis Colts 38-7 Sunday to fall to 3-11.

This is awesome news. A great talent evaluator with time to look at this year's talent and see what he wants to do. Plus, he'll be able to have input into the next head coach of the falcons.

you better hope he doesn't give Warren Saap a big fat check in the offseason...
