FOF2k4 Bug?
 

I didn't see this in the bug thread.

Just noticed when playing today that some AI controlled teams don't have the minimum 3 QB's.

In fact, I'm playing Jacksonville and they only have 1.

New Orleans only has 2, so I simmed a game involving NO, looked at their depth chart again, still.... only 2 QB's on their roster.??

Any one else seeing this??

Wow, what in the heck is going on here? I've never noticed this before? (scratches head)

Well, duh. In order to implement the two point conversion, Jim had to remove the "feature" of carrying 3 QB's.

Actually, in seriousness, I checked one of my saves and I'm in 2005 and all teams have 3 active QB's. Sounds like something to watch though.

I went back and checked out a saved game file from the end of the 2004 season (I'm in 2005), everything looked fine to me.

Something must have happened after I hit end season?

Here's another: Green Bay's DB Jue was injured seriously, and a play or two later he made a tackle. How can this be?

Don't some NFL teams only carry 2 QBs for salary cap purposes. Denver earlier this season seems to really stick out in my head as they only had Plummer and Buerlein, and had Kanell ready to be signed as soon as they needed him.

Yes, IRL but according to the fof2k4 help file

Before adjusting your depth charts, you need to have a minimum number of players at each position. The minimums for each position are as follows:


Quarterback: 3
Running Back: 3
Fullback: 1
Tight End: 2
Wide Receiver: 4
Center: 2
Offensive Guard: 3
Offensive Tackle: 3
Punter: 1
Kicker: 1
Defensive End: 3
Defensive Tackle: 3 (2 if you play a 3-4 defense)
Inside Linebacker: 2 (3 if you play a 4-3 defense)
Outside Linebacker: 3
Cornerback: 4
Safety: 3


I'd think it should be the same for the AI team as the human.

Two healthy ones? Maybe an oddity here or there, but did you see the list I posted?

I just played Jacksonville and they only had one (Leftwich), I was hoping he would get injured to see who would have come in at QB? Going into the next week, JV still only has 1 QB, infact they've had only one QB this whole season.

I have 2003 and 2004 season saves and don't see that anywhere, that's why in 2005 I'm wondering why it's happening.

I've emailed Jim, maybe he'll take a look at my season or something?

I agree. You would think there has to be a time in the game when it checks rosters to make sure they meet the roster minimum... I was thinking right when you hit 'sim games'?

Since nobody has seen this bug yet, it really has me scratching my head.

Everyone's looked at their games and haven't seen anything like this?

I emailed Jim, but someone other than Jim responded to me... Does this guy have Jim held hostage?

Probably someone from .400... they're trying to figure out how to have a bug-free first release.

This corrected itself in 2006. I haven't heard back from Jim, I sent him my game save file to look at.
