I want Spurrier to coach Nebraska

GoldenEagle 01-01-2004 11:09 PM

Spurrier/Davis is a good trade for Nutt.

the_meanstrosity 01-01-2004 11:14 PM

According to Nebraska boards...it's Nutt from Arkansas.

Die Hand die Verletzt 01-01-2004 11:17 PM

You can have Ron Zook and Cris Collingsworth...

:D

Just joking about Cris, of course.

tucker342 01-02-2004 12:06 AM

Why would anyone ever want to coach at Nebraska... the only thing that you could possibly look forward to is being fired in 4 years.

JeeberD 01-02-2004 02:57 AM

I'm afraid that someone is going to take my basketball coach... :(

GoldenEagle 01-02-2004 03:22 AM

I am afraid a stripper is going to take your football coach :D

JeeberD 01-02-2004 03:24 AM

Punk... :D

mckerney 01-02-2004 03:46 AM

I'm afraid my football coach may sign an extension, so someone please take him.

ahbrady 01-02-2004 09:09 AM

I'm an Arkansas fan and it's fine with me if you take my coach. Just don't give him back to us when you fire him in a few years.

From ESPN.com Front Page

Report: Nutt Says No To Huskers
Arkansas coach Houston Nutt is expected to turn down the Nebraska job, according to a Fayetteville TV station. The report also stated that Nutt will get a pay raise and an additional job title.

MJ4H 01-02-2004 07:17 PM

Yeah that's what we've been hearing for awhile here. Still waiting on the press conference confirming this.

GoldenEagle 01-02-2004 07:34 PM

The 2.5 million offer from Nebraska is making Nutt reconsider.

corbes 01-02-2004 07:35 PM

Dear Nebraska,

Please hire John Bunting.

He has "NFL" experience.

Signed,
UNC

GoldenEagle 01-02-2004 07:37 PM

LINCOLN - With a plane waiting to take him back to Nebraska, and a $2 million offer on the table, Arkansas Coach Houston Nutt was still mulling the Nebraska job Friday evening in Fayetteville.

Houston Nutt

"Nothing is settled," Arkansas Athletic Director Frank Broyles said when reached at home Friday night.

When asked what was holding things up, Broyles said, "His agent."

A 6 p.m. press conference was originally scheduled in Arkansas to announce Nutt's decision. But Broyles said negotiations had "hit a snag."

Nutt was offered a package that is nearly $1 million more annually than Frank Solich's $1.1 million package. Solich was fired on Nov. 29 after a 9-3 regular season.

ahbrady 01-02-2004 08:11 PM

The rumor down here is that Nebraska has reupped its previous offer to $2.5 million, so Nutt is still thinking it over. I do not understand the sudden overwhelming desire of Nebraska to hire Houston Nutt. He is a good man by all accounts that I've heard, but he's hardly proven to be an outstanding coach, in my opinion at least.

MJ4H 01-02-2004 08:55 PM

I think he's one of the best in the country. I wouldn't trade him for anyone, myself.

detroit_fan 01-02-2004 10:40 PM

Except Bob Stoops... ;)

miami_fan 01-04-2004 11:05 PM

Has Norm Chow's name been mentioned with this job?

talk about short-term memory.
this next coach will make it their 4th coach in the last 40+ years.

albionmoonlight 01-05-2004 12:24 AM

Nebraska better make sure it gets the next guy that it openly courts, or it could end up with lots of egg on its face.

Just think of the political implications. Please take Tyrone Willingham.

corbes 01-06-2004 12:10 PM

Now Don Zimmer turned Nebraska down.

Did Nebraska call UNC A.D. Dick Baddour for insights on how to conduct a coaching search?

vex 01-06-2004 12:17 PM

Next thing we know Eric Crouch will be a candidate.

IMetTrentGreen 01-06-2004 12:28 PM

don zimmer huh. nu must be getting desperate

corbes 01-06-2004 12:28 PM

that's what I'm saying.
