Free Music 'Ripping' Utilities

I'm trying to find a utility that will pull music off my audio CDs and turn them into .wav files so that I can burn them to my own CDs, or just switch them over to .mp3s that I can play on WinAmp, but I can't find any such utility online that doesn't cost money. Can I get one that is free, or will it cost me money?

I use Audiograbber. However, the version I installed is QUITE old, so I'm not sure if the shareware version is crippled now.

Thanks guys. Every time I'd search online, I'd end up with some software that would only rip the odd numbered songs, or something like that.

http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/ is the link.

that will rip to wave, or you can integrate an MP3 encoder (I use LAME, which is what they recommend). All the info for that stuff is on the site as well.

nice program - I use it all the time.

Ahh yes, that was the other one I was trying to think of. I use that one on my laptop and it does the trick.

I used this old program called "CD Copy" It seemed to work well enough for what I wanted. Don't remember where I got it though...

you can rip, burn, play, everything with iTunes and it's free. There's now a windows version that kicks ass.

I use a program called CDeX. Best free program for that sort of thing. I will convert Mp3-Wav and Wav-mp3.. I also think it does a few other formats as well.

One more vote for EAC + Lame

Media Player can rip audio, though it does it in .wma and you have to pay for an app to be able to use it for .mp3 files. I does, however, burn those files to CD for you. I personally use the MusicMatch software that came with my computer (and it seems they have deals with several companies), so I'm not sure what to tell you for free other than that

Version 9 of Windows Media Player rips in both MP3 and WMA, at about any bitrate you can think of... It also can burn music CDs and play back your WMAs and MP3s... That's what I use, even though it's a microblows product, I gotta say I like it and it's media library, where you can save your ripped CDs... I never play music from a CD anymore, I rip it, play it from the library...
