Ok, this is a big caption screw up

The editor was *really* asleep at the wheel for this one. SI |
:D
Jeez, I give it 10 mins till it's changed. |
Oh my.
|
Dola
Just in case it is changed, here's the text: Mitsubishi concept version of a mid-sized pickup is displayed during the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Sales of new vehicles are expected to rebound to near-record volumes again this year, and all signs are that Asian automakers plan to carve out a nigger piece of the lucrative truck segment(AFP/Jeff Haynes) |
Wow :)

Somebody is so fired.

Wow.

No this.. is a caption messup
Whoops.. |
Oh my goodness...!
I'm wholly surprised this made it through in the first place. Then again, this is the Internet.. |
My best guess is they meant to use the word niggardly in that first article. That picture is either someone with the cruelest parents ever, or the result of a racist producer who probably got fired.
|
I think the word they were looking for in the first caption was "bigger."
The gentleman on MSNBC's name is actually "Niger" Innis. |
The funny thing is, taken completely out of context, it could make sense the way it reads (although, obviously, only if you replace the 'n' word with something not as insensitive). It could suggest that Asian automakers are looking to carve out a niche in selling pickups and other trucks to the black community.
