Jeez, I give it 10 mins till it's changed.

vex 01-14-2004 03:26 AM

Oh my.

vex 01-14-2004 03:27 AM

Dola

Just in case it is changed, here's the text:

Mitsubishi concept version of a mid-sized pickup is displayed during the North American International Auto Show at Cobo Hall in Detroit. Sales of new vehicles are expected to rebound to near-record volumes again this year, and all signs are that Asian automakers plan to carve out a nigger piece of the lucrative truck segment(AFP/Jeff Haynes)

Vince 01-14-2004 03:28 AM

Wow :)

SackAttack 01-14-2004 03:30 AM

The more I read this, the more unclear I am on how to do this or even what it means. :p

Ragone 01-14-2004 04:37 AM

No this.. is a caption messup
Whoops..

hukarez 01-14-2004 04:44 AM

Oh my goodness...!

I'm wholly surprised this made it through in the first place. Then again, this is the Internet..

cthomer5000 01-14-2004 05:35 AM

My best guess is they meant to use the word niggardly in that first article. That picture is either someone with the cruelest parents ever, or the result of a racist producer who probably got fired.

Swaggs 01-14-2004 06:37 AM

I think the word they were looking for in the first caption was "bigger."

The gentleman on MSNBC's name is actually "Niger" Innis.

Ksyrup 01-14-2004 07:13 AM

The funny thing is, taken completely out of context, it could make sense the way it reads (although, obviously, only if you replace the 'n' word with something not as insensitive). It could suggest that Asian automakers are looking to carve out a niche in selling pickups and other trucks to the black community.

Ah, good call. "B" and "N" are right next to each other on the ol' keyboard...
