I don't know what sort of contact you have with the people who run SI's CM messageboards, but if you DO have any sort of contact with them, if you would be so kind, sir, as to tell the folks who run the CM messageboards that they are, collectively, the world's largest assembly of shitfaced dickheads, it would be most appreciated.

You may further tell them that this status has been conferred upon them for not even allowing read-only access to said forums without an 'approved' registration.

That is all.

I think its safe to say that the tone on that board is a bit more rough then on this board.

Thank you for your kind words of wisdom ... with regards to our messageboards, I post on them but actively try and avoid moderation etc. on them.

The reason that only registered users are allowed on is simply to try and reduce our bandwidth costs, I realise this is frustrating but its something we had to do to try and ensure that we can keep the boards present for 'active' users (the boards cost circa £5,000 ($8,000) a month to run because we have over 40,000 active users currently).

If you'd care to PM me your user name then I can 'nudge' your application through for you.

you can read the general forum without registering too. or at least you could last time i checked :)

I started with the general forum. I couldn't find the information I needed there. I tried to go to the more specialised forums, and...badda bing, badda boom.

I got another email asking for me to confirm my email address (which I did), and then proceeded to try and read the forums in question again. Got this message:

"Access denied. The site administrators have removed some of your access rights."

Nah, I actually woulda said "Hey, cool, they DID listen."

Cuz, I mean, it's not like they're letting me in as it currently stands. If it doesn't change, there isn't anything else I can do about it.

I think that board has 10 or 12 sorry folks who live for the chance to pounce on posts in the wrong section. Not a single thread goes by where someone doesn't say, "Isn't this a Tactics question?" or "This bloody moron doesn't know how to post in the 'good player guide' section!"

Yep. I think they'd go apoplectic if somebody managed to pull off the equivalent of sticking the place in a blender and just scatter the existing threads willy-nilly across those boards.

I miss the good old days when that board didn't suck... when they took away post counts, it all went to hell.

If you want, you can use my screenname, I haven't used it for a year or 2.

That's the thing, Easy Mac. I used to have a screenname there, 2 or 3 years ago. I don't know if they changed boards or if they prune unused screennames after a while, or what, but my old one no longer exists there.

I'll have a rummage around again and see what I can do ...

Given the "dickhead" factor on the SI boards, I've had some success stealing tactics from the dugout forums...

Yeah, the Dugout is a pretty solid place to go for CM info. Before the SI website took off like it did (a few years back), it really was the place to go to get new info about the game, IMO.

Now it won't load at all for me. I'll try again later in the evening, but at the moment, it's timing out after about two minutes. At least, the front page of the website is. As I don't have a direct link to the forums, I couldn't say if the same holds true there.
