FOFC Nat. Team Trainer Nomination Thread

We need to make sure we get slashers out of office when elections come around.

I suggest anyone who wants to try and be FOFC's representative, or if anyone knows someone who would do a good job, should nominate here and eventually we can find a way to pick our candidate.

Please feel free to nominate yourself.

The Afoci 02-16-2004 03:30 PM

I am out, running in Canada!

TargetPractice6 02-16-2004 03:33 PM

I nominate CoffeeWarlord.

Of course this is because he sucks so bad, that no matter what you do in the WC, you will look golden. ;)

Shhh!!!

GoldenEagle 02-16-2004 03:37 PM

I nominate vexroid.

If elected, I shall ensure that no Crawfish, or descendant of Crawfish, shall ever respresent (read: disgrace) the USA team. Ever. :)

The Afoci 02-16-2004 04:28 PM

CW for DEAD!

I also nominate CoffeeWarlord.

Blade6119 02-16-2004 05:12 PM

i think billy should run...lets gets him going, whether he wants to or not!

YoSoySean 02-16-2004 05:19 PM

I really don't think slashers will be running again anyway. He believes in the one FULL term limit.

RPI-Fan 02-16-2004 05:21 PM

Regardless, I think most here would agree it's best to pick one FOFC candidate to rally behind. I I'm wrong in that assumption, please correct me.

Agreed.

Blade6119 02-16-2004 05:56 PM

but who...obviously billy is the most qualified(minus TP6, but that would even be close). I could see also backing lytic since he has the national coaching experiance if he was willing.

RPI-Fan 02-16-2004 05:58 PM

I think Billy is most qualified, and he also would have by far the best chance of picking up "outside" votes.

Instead of the 29 of 32 week terms? :p

BillyNYC 02-17-2004 12:42 AM

The season I relegate I should run? :)

Seriously though, I'm not likely to run. It's just a game and I don't much care for how much people get riled up about nat team stuff. It wouldn't be fun for me, and "taking the US to glory" is just not something I have an interest in. It honestly doesn't mean anything to me if the US wins the World Cup or finishes last. Of course, if I was coach I'd do my best to win, but beyond that I don't much care.

I think it's somewhat due to that I started playing a bit before national teams even existed, so was always "my team and only my team" and that's how I treat it nowadays. I don't have any more "pride" if I was to have a US nat. teamer as compared to a Pakistani one (hell, I prefer my Hong Kong guy because the flag looks weird). It's always been about my team and I view the national team aspect as a necessary evil for the growth of the game. Hell, I root for Tombstone's nat team guys to get injured and so forth.

Besides, this season will be more interesting to me than the past few. New teams, more money than I've ever had and a better team. I'm going to try to enjoy it and see what happens.

Besides besides, on a personal level I'm tired of doing temp work and need to find a job.

So, no, I don't think I'd be running. I'm flattered by my mention though, especially considering I'm not exactly active here.

Poli 02-17-2004 01:31 AM

I would be interested in running, but I doubt I would garner any votes outside of FOFC.

Blade6119 02-17-2004 01:35 AM

id vote for my boy ardent!

Hell, you'd have a hard time garnering votes inside of FOFC. :p

antbacker 02-17-2004 02:01 AM

Are there any other US voting blocks outside of FOFC? If so, it might be a good idea to see who those groups are proposing.

Does this mean the National team would now wear puke green socks and play the Run-N-Shoot ???

There would definitely be some run and shoot soccer going on. :)

Puke green socks I'm not sure I'd have control over.

Ok, they wear them under their normal socks. :p

If I had to guess, LoTA (League of The Americas) might push a candidate, though I don't know for sure. There are a few other "big" conferences that are mostly US people.

Spoken like a true FOFCer. :)

saintjo 02-17-2004 01:14 PM

whoever we nominate, i highly recommend you do not make the following speech. it will kill your campaign...

"Not only are we going to New Hampshire..., we're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York! And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan. And then we're going to Washington, D.C. to take back the White House, Yeeeeeaaaaaah!"

MacroGuru 02-17-2004 01:32 PM

However, this might work.

If you can look like the little Quizno's guys and sing just like they do......It's a shoooo in.

TargetPractice6 02-17-2004 03:10 PM

LotA has never sponsored a candidate before. I think FOFC is the only enormous bloc in the US.

Ardent: Yes, you get to control the color of the socks :D

Poli 02-17-2004 03:12 PM

Excellent, TP6, excellent.

We will have the other countries barfing on the sidelines. They won't stand a chance when I unveil my secret weapon, puke green socks.

Coffee Warlord 02-17-2004 03:48 PM

Whoo! More campaign fodder for me!

Vote CW and keep the puke green far, far away.

(Although I have a definiate urge, if by some chance in hell I win, to rotate the color of our socks every match, just for some fun.)

BishopMVP 02-17-2004 04:09 PM

My top two choices (who haven't already declined AFAIK) are Lytic and CoffeeWarlord. Lytic was very successful running South Korea, so that added experience gives him a leg up on everyone else. But I'll pretty much vote for whoever is picked.

Must

Kick

Coffee

Warlord

in

nads.

Raven Hawk 02-17-2004 04:12 PM

I would nominate my arch rival, Lytic. The more things he has to worry about outside of our division, the better. ;)

Oh yeah, and he's a good candidate.

The Afoci 02-17-2004 04:16 PM

AE has worldwide appeal. I mean, who wouldn't love a weird guy from the Navy who has an odd obsession with puke green socks.

Just curious. Is he eligible? He'd be a good candidate, but I thought he was already a U-20 manager somewhere.

After 8 months at sea, all of my socks were puke green.

Matt2You 02-17-2004 04:42 PM

Lytic is still coaching South Korea U-20 but he would definetely be ideal for the spot. Noone will give a duck about anyone else we suggest--So just pick a candidate; and he has my support.

And just fyi, if we can't limit it to one candidate we might as well not even bother.

DukeRulesMAB 02-17-2004 04:46 PM

I believe lytic plans to run for U-20 trainer after TP's term is up.

I believe CW is the best choice this go around, so long as he's willing to put the effort on the conferences.

The Afoci 02-17-2004 05:09 PM

It sounds like CW or AE? I think if AE can get the backing of his GM buddies, not sure which one, we should back him. Otherwise we will have an uphile climb with CW-who?

MacroGuru 02-17-2004 05:30 PM

AE has my vote, but then again, if they are an FOFCer, I will vote

Mr. Wednesday 02-17-2004 06:53 PM

USCHO is up around 40 people now, but I don't think we've got anybody with a serious shot at winning (although I'd guess there's at least a couple of us who could be competitive).

The_herd 02-17-2004 06:57 PM

How could I vote for ardent when he came up short in his goal of allowing 80 goals this season?

Plus, he's in the Navy. *shivers at the thought*

Poli 02-17-2004 07:10 PM

I nearly joined the Air Force. Plus, the fact I didn't give up 80 goals allowed me to move into 7th place. :)

The Afoci 02-17-2004 08:31 PM

I think AE could really use a campaign manager...

But who would have the qualifications...

I mean, who could rally the people? Who has handled this kind of talent, or lack there of and turned it into something good?

I got nothing.

I'd like to announce The Afoci is now my campaign manager.

Blade6119 02-17-2004 08:58 PM

your going to need an assistant...*prays her picks me*

While I would like to seriously win, and will make a good attempt to do so, I don't really expect to win this time around. Should at the very least get my name out as a legit candidate for the next election, though.
