Man UHH is the worst college baseball team ever.

we are fucking horrible, that would be university of hawaii at hilo. Why we are division one is beyond me.

We left after the 6th inning tonight as it was 11-1 ucla. last night we got shallacked 10-4.

i think we are something like 4-17 on the season.

guess what, our starting pitcher gave up 9 runs tonight, and they left him in for 2 more innings, what kind of fucking coaching is that, i cussed out the coach and told him tog et ghim out of there. what a loser. last year our best pitcher had something like a 9.5 era on the season, how the hell can someone like that play collegiate baseball at the division one level. get some fuckin players.

Ouch, by UCLA baseball? One college WS appearance ever?

Eaglesfan27 02-27-2004 10:53 PM

Least you get to live in Hawaii *drool*

JeeberD 02-27-2004 11:25 PM

at least they have a baseball team... :(

Tigercat 02-27-2004 11:38 PM

UCLA has had some talented baseball teams from time to time, they just don't seem to put together the right chemestry to ever run for any titles.

UTEP doesn't have a baseball team? Thats odd, I know its not a money maker for 99% of schools, but if your gonna have any of the non money making male sports...

JeeberD 02-27-2004 11:43 PM

Nah, we had one from the sixties till the mid eighties, but it got dropped because of title nine. The team was terrible, though. It apparently made the football team look good, it was so bad. Which is weird since there's some good high school baseball talent in El Paso....

GoldenEagle 02-27-2004 11:53 PM

Along the same lines of college baseball....

My friend from high school is the ace of the Ole Miss baseball team (#18 in the country) and he is just a true sophomore. He is 6`3, left handed and throws in the mid 90s with some nasty junk. He will be pitching in the majors one day. There is speculation that if he comes out this year, he will be a 1st round draft pick.

GoldenEagle 02-27-2004 11:54 PM

Does UTEP have a men's soccer team?

JeeberD 02-27-2004 11:58 PM

Nope. We added a womens soccer team about seven years ago, and it's pretty decent. Though they seem to get a lot of their players from Canada and Europe...

And we just added a womens softball team this year. Supposedly if that does well and UTEP adds one more womens sport we might bring baseball back. But that's just message board rumors...

INDalltheway 02-27-2004 11:59 PM

Wes Whisler was my fall baseball coach this year. It is kind of exciting having a possible top 10 pick coach you. If you don't know, he plays for UCLA. He's a pretty cool guy too.

GoldenEagle 02-27-2004 11:59 PM

Where is all the money going? And dont say football or basketball :D

All the money? Please, UTEP has one of the smallest athletic budgets in the WAC at only around 8 or 9 million bucks.

Now, the basketball team has been producing some revenue this season, and if Price can get the football team looking decent, watch out for crowds of 40,000+ at the Sun Bowl next season...

GoldenEagle 02-28-2004 12:07 AM

Here is UTEP's mens sports:
Basketball
Track
Football
Golf

Here is the women's sports:
Basketball
Track
Golf
Rifle
Soccer
Softball
Tennis
Voleyball

Now lets' look at an average D-1 program, lets just say Memphis
Men's sports:
Baseball
Basketball
Football
Golf
Rifle
Tennis
Soccer
Cross Country/Track (Same thing as far as NCAA counts scholarships)

Women' sports:
Basketball
Golf
Rifle
Soccer
Tennis
Track
Volleyball

I don't think its Title IX.....

JeeberD 02-28-2004 12:12 AM

Like I said, UTEP is generally a poor school. But if we can sustain some success in football and basketball, I think that will change...

k0ruptr 02-28-2004 12:37 AM

ice4277 02-28-2004 07:08 AM

Yup. Tell me about it...

Pumpy Tudors 02-28-2004 02:13 PM

Hey, the University of New Orleans doesn't even have football. So bah.

k0ruptr 02-28-2004 06:08 PM

UHH doesnt have football, mens volleyball, any soccer or womens bball

we have, mens basketball, tennis, baseball (which should get cut), softball, and cross country. I think thats it, not sure tho.

ScottVib 02-28-2004 06:37 PM

Providence College was another that dropped baseball for title IX. UConn doesn't fund scholarships for Mens hockey (but does for Womens hockey) due to title IX. There have been a bunch of other baseball, wrestling, and other men's programs that have been title IX casualties.

and uconn's decision to field a 1A football team wouldn't have anything to do with other scholarships getting cut?
