Crusader Kings gone gold
http://www.paradoxplaza.com/news.asp...=154&Page=News
I havent seen much talk yet around the boards for this. Looks like a very cool game. Now talk amongst yourselves... |
Wow, you can continue the game into EU2! If that feature works well I'll buy it for sure. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if they'll create Victoria 2 and let you take your EU2 game into that? And then, Hearts of Iron 2, and then??? I'd never leave home...

Yeah, you can continue the game. They just released a new patch for EU2 with the new tags.
|
Cool. I didn't even know about this game but I love EU2. I might check it out if it carries over to EU2.
|
Eh. I thought I'd be much more excited when this (finally) came out. I hate to say it but Victoria somewhat soured me on Paradox... I've got no issue with the way they release games (a bit less polished at the start than other developers, maybe), or their patching philosophy, or the patches to Victoria themselves. It's just not a fun game to me. Neither was Hearts of Iron, really. I've begun thinking of them as a company that caught lightning in a bottle with EU1/EU2 (the latter being my favorite game ever) and has settled into this "OK game, but..." thing. I'll wait for the reactions on their boards...

"Thousands of real historical characters, meet Richard the Lionhearted, Saladin and Subotai."
Nice to see the general who I get my name from is getting some attention outside of the history books. :) (I've seen Subotai spelled several different ways, the first being Sabotai, hence the reason that spelling is how I spelled my name) |

I would rather see a complete game that goes from beginning to end, rather than several games that get imported and exported... Maybe that's down the line for them. |
The last I heard, you're not going to be playable though; only Christian kingdoms are playable. (No merchant republics like Venice, no Muslim countries, no Mongols.)
|
Well, one thing I have noticed from hanging around the boards at paradox is that they are going to games that are not as complicated. So Crusader Kings will be more like EU2 than victoria.

That sucks. |
Well, the game is a simulation of fuedalism. Though given some time I bet someone makes some mods to open up some of the other nations.
|
Yeah, but in the other games they let you choose almost any nation, no matter how insugnificant. It a disappointment that they'll limit your choices this time. But if it is open to modding, someone will probably open it up if possible. When that happens, then I'll probably buy it.
|
One of the things that I think will be so cool about this game is the dynasties that will come out of it. You start historical, but once it begins it more than any other paradox game will become ahistorical. Even the events aren't historical driven as in the past. Now it will be random events with a historical feel.

Not in the origianl EU, I think. There you had to d/l a user-made patch. -Anxiety |
Nope. You could always play any country. Just because you could though didnt mean you should. Some of those little nations were so damn hard to play.
|
I just ordered the game (my first time ever ordering from this company - I believe), but I can't find any indication of when it will ship. Anyone know when I should expect it to ship and arrive in New Orleans.
|
where did you order it from? Directly from paradox? It just went gold like 3 or 4 days ago. I would think before the end of the month.
|
I ordered directly from Paradox using the link at the top of this thread.
