Am I old??

I used the word "sweet" as an exclaimation of joy a little earlier today, and a few seconds after the words left my lips, I realized that I never hear kids say that anymore. Am I out of style suddenly?

Do any of you guys hold on to saying things that aren't "cool" anymore?

I never said this, but I still can recall a friend of mine who always said "lacidar!" as his counter to the popular "radical!"

That's not old school. Responses with one word that doesn't have meaning by itself (like word, choice, mint, tight, fresh) starting only a couple of decades ago. Groovy may be debatable (meaning 'that's in the groove') but at least words like sweet and cool are appropriate responses, instead of trying to sound hip and 'with it'.

One kid on another message board used the word "sexual" instead of cool.

If finding the use of that word, in that context, makes me old (I'm 24), then bring on the home.

Schmidty, as I've sadly discovered, if you have to ask that question, then yes, you are. :(

korme 03-21-2004 09:24 AM

Tight has made a strong comeback to the cool words, but unfortunately sweet has been left behind.

I do a lot of mentoring with Third, Fourth and Fifth grade boys and they all say 'sweet.'

They also all say "all-star' is their favorite song, wear 'DC' brand clothes, and play paint ball and ask me if the ketchup in their hair is still visible.
