EHM:FE interview

Hi,

In case anyones interested Riz and Miles did an interview about EHM:FE for powerplay magazine - details can be found at:

http://www.sigames.com/news.php?type...article_id=860

Have Fun,

Marc

Excellent!

Good to see the enthusiasm and all. Hope the licensing works out.

Can't wait to see the final product!

JonInMiddleGA 03-23-2004 07:27 AM

Thanks much for the heads-up Marc, it's always appreciated

After reading the interview, there's really one thing that jumps out at me:

"The plan is to have as many playable leagues as possible but at the moment because license negotiations are still going on we can't confirm any of the leagues in the game but we'll hopefully be able to do that early this year. We're planning on having all the major leagues in twenty countries and lots of minor ones, subject to negotiations."

I understand about not counting any (league) chickens before the (licensing) eggs hatch, but I'm certainly hopeful that things go well with all of the North American entities. With US & Canadian league structures, this seems to be a slam-dunk purchase. Without them, I can't imagine being drawn to the game.

But hey ... no pressure ;)

I guess I'm more confident that the licensing issue will be taken care of now that Sega is on board as publisher. To me, Sega is a known entity and their involvement with the EHM:FE product only grants further credence to the quality of the SI product name. I think that a lot will be possible thanks to the success of CM and that may be a key towards getting all the desired licenses. I think that things will work out in the end, though, because Sega is attached to the title and will carry quite a bit of weight for Riz and the crew in negotiations.

Well, since Sega is the publisher, don't they already have the NHL license? It seems like that would be the most difficult one to get, and I know they make NHL games already.

I don't know that the Sega name translates directly to an NHL license, but I can't imagine it hurts. :D

Excuse my ignorance, but will this game be a career sim? Hockey is not a sport I really follow, but I'll give this a look if it does.

Nay, wrong again. It will be THE career sim. Any sport. Any game. End of. :D

Miles (who handles this sort of thing at SI) has a lot of experience with licencing and I am very confident that while such things are complicated and take time they'll all be sorted out successfully ....

Obviously once we know the full situation for such things we'll post details on sigames.com (and as usual I'll echo the gist of things here).

Quote from Miles in the article:
"...when we decide to launch football titles or soccer titles in the US and Canada."

Is that the language barrier or a Freudian slip? :D

'......to do that early this year........'

Has'nt that passed already?

It IS the end of March.

MizzouRah 03-23-2004 11:22 AM

I'm not one of those people who demand game releases.

Release this damn game already!!

It really is hard, is'nt it? You don't want to be so demanding that they release the game to early (and with all due respect to SI, they did that with CM4), but who doesn't want this game like yesterday? :)

riz 03-23-2004 11:58 AM

Please be aware that this interview was done in December last year and a few things have changed since (due to licensing delaying us a bit etc.) so don't jump on us too hard about the times quoted there :)

And for those who would like the game to be released yesterday...we're working on it. I mean the game is coming along nicely but our time-space-continuum department has been slacking off lately :D

With the impending return of The Doctor, perhaps you guys can put him on staff and borrow the Tardis for a few spins. That should really speed up the development!

3ric 03-23-2004 02:43 PM

Oh, no, you certainly don't need to do it as fast as yesterday. Just for about two hours ago would be alright.

I guess it's because I don't visit sigames.com very often to read up on the game, but when I do (today), it really makes me want that game.

I really want this game too but if it arrives before May, I'll probably fail my semester.

Come on, what's more important? :)

Karim 03-23-2004 05:33 PM

:) I'll be using EHM:FE to take me through the lockout.

Exactly. I picked up CM 03/04 late, so I am still playing that a bunch, so I think my really getting into EHM will come when I am missing the real thing around October.
