Hmm... so the guy goes out there, catches people off guard, asks misleading questions, and then edits everything to make people look foolish.

Damn, he's a regular Michael Moore!

Actually, I like that guy. His films are quite good. I'm actually impressed the protestors got as many right as they did... and that some seemed to know the exact quotes before he was even finished.

(Was he the same guy that would sneak into anti-war protest with signs like "Other than slavery, fascism and the nazis, war has never solved anything"?)

Maybe, but I don't think so. I think that was another group who used to bring signs like that to protest.

At work. Can't even watch the videos. Though I reckon I standby my original criticism and figure it's as well-reasoned as this malarkey deserves.

Shepp 03-26-2004 11:13 AM

I was suprised how many people got the questions right. I guess Democrat supporters are going to smear Bush no matter if its based in fact or not.

Either that or the peace protestors are sending the message that it is far more desireable to TALK tough about Weapons of Mass Dtestruction and terrorism than actually do anything about it.

Dutch 03-26-2004 11:49 AM

Yes, it was all malarkey! It was only half true! Kerry didnt say their were WMD's. He said there were and weren't WMD's. Get it straight! :D

I haven't seen it either, which is why I refrained from posting a :D .

CamEdwards 03-26-2004 12:06 PM

actually I thought it was done very well. The quotes he used weren't taken out of context, and as several people have pointed out, the protestors actually got half of the questions right.

I think it was more a case of people figuring out "guess the democrat" than them actually knowing that Madeline Albright, Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, et al were the ones making these statements.

I don't know how many of these people would be considered mainstream Democrats, however. They look like Nader fans to me.

Just out of curiousity....how can you criticize something you've never seen or heard about? Sounds awfully closeminded and intolerant to me.

It's easy, just post the little smiley eye roll guy and you are done...try it...

Ksyrup 03-26-2004 12:31 PM

Speaking of partisan politics, has CNN officially announced that they are pasting that picture of a scowling Condoleezza Rice on the front page of their website until the election, or is my browser stuck?

What's next? Are they going to use that shot of Dubya picking his nose that's about 20 years old every time they do a feature story on him?

Easy Mac 03-26-2004 01:10 PM

I think your browsers stuck.

I think he's training to be in the Georgia Senate.

chinaski 03-26-2004 01:53 PM

Iraq did not attack America on 9/11. Its pretty simple to understand isnt it?

You can read the blurb at the top and figure out what exactly is going to happen in the video pretty damned easily. It's not rocket science or anything we haven't seen before. As I said, I watched it. It was exactly as I expected.

rkmsuf 03-26-2004 01:59 PM

does rocket science even exist?

Dutch 03-26-2004 02:09 PM

Yes, but in a really cool way, not a HB way.

Because that explains everything, just like John Kerry says it does!

haven't you heard, now John Kerry says Iraq was responsible not only for 9/11, but for the War of 1812 as well!

Iraq burned down our White House already? That settles it. John Kerry is the bomb, yo! Kerry in 04!

Oh wait, CNN is showing a Kerry speech live, he's retracting any knowledge of Iraq firebombing the White House in 1812. Damn...guess I'll stick with Bush, he doesn't know about the War of 1812, but we can still protest to get the truth out there!

chinaski 03-26-2004 03:00 PM

why are you guys so flippant about the war?

Sure he does. He just thinks it started in 1914. :)

Just do a search. There are tons of thread lying around here. It's all been covered and no one ever really convinces the other side, so unless someone is feeling particularly feisty there is no sense rehashing it in another thread. Bump one of the other ones or create a new one if you want serious (maybe that's a bad word) discussion, this one has gone too far down the 'flippant' road already.

I think Kerry claimed it was Iraq, but as soon as he found it out was the British, he was quick to condem all those who blamed Iraq. At least that's what I remember from 8th grade.

A bit off topic, if that's possible in this thread, being over in Brussels, I tend to meet a lot of Brits. Since I don't speak French or Flemish, I tend hangout with the Brits more than the locals. Quite a few of my British friends had never heard of the War of 1812. They had no idea it ever happened. Strange. You figured they'd be all geeked over burning the White House down and all.

CamEdwards 03-26-2004 03:52 PM

well, you know, eventually we won that war as well. Maybe the Brits decided to concentrate on their military victories instead of defeats.

You can't expect the Brits to learn every military victory they had in their third-world colonies. ;)

Bah. The Brits. You beat them, sure, but it was the Canadians who burned down the White House. It's still a source of pride up here.

Conclusion #1: Canada is 1-0 vs the US in wars. Boo-yah!

Conclusion #2: My knowledge of history is woefully poor.
