Ok, Jersey Girl, How was it?

Im interested in some impressions. I like(but dont worship) the other Smith films. I have read some rather harsh reviews of this, though. And Im not the biggest Ben fan in the world. Is this anything more than a rental?

I'm curious as well, wife wants to see it and that may mean today.

This should give you some idea:

I find that RT rarely leads me astray when it comes to movies.

My girlfriend dragged me out to see it last night and it actually wasn't as bad as I expected, but it certainly wasn't great. Nothing like any of Smith's other films (which I never really liked minus Dogma) and it is just bascially your typical romantic comedy that we have seen a thousand times. I don't know if Mr. Affleck was the best choice for the part, but he did a better job in this movie than he has done in last few (Gigli, Paycheck etc. ) All in all it was decent, but I wouldn't go out of your way to see it. Not sure if I would take the kids to see it either, the plot is straight out of a disney film, but there are some scenes when he is describing his porno renting habits, and although funny, not sure if I would want my younger kids to hear that stuff.

Hope that helps.

This movie is clearly a vehicle to get Affleck back in the spotlight after the Gigli/Bennifer mess. They paired him with the love-interest from his biggest movie, Armaggedon, and made him about as sympathetic a character as one can get - a new father whose wife died in childbirth. And, they even went so far as to kill J-Lo off as the wife (hint, hint).

I'm sure the wife will want to see it when her dad buys/rents it and copies it, but I'm not paying money to watch it.

IMetTrentGreen 03-27-2004 11:51 AM

um, you know they made this movie before gigli even came out, right?

Miller Time 03-27-2004 11:56 AM

They wanted to get this movie as far away from Gilgi has possible, and I don't blame them. That's why they waited quite awhile to release it.

This is way too much Benny talk for me in one day. ;)

Easy Mac 03-28-2004 12:46 PM

Your right! He was the leading man in ALL of them, and they were ALL instant classics, eveyone of them! How could I have forgotten?
