It was my understanding that people did the hxxp thing and then UN-LINKED the text so that you had to cp/paste ... my bad.

I think he used url tags. If you cut and paste a hxxp:// addy into your browser if will send you to the correct site anyways.

I don't like when someone makes a URL link to hxxp, since my Firefox can't handle it. :( I'd rather see text and copy/paste into a new tab... I'm still used to clicking on links, even though I know they're hxxp. :)

Yes. If i understand it correctly, people do the hxxp so that the browser doesn't send the referring URL as this site. Any browser should work with your link because it is wrapped in a <a> tag.
