Make it Stop

Of late, FOFC has become saturated with duplicate threads.

I don't want to start yet another hissy-fit flame war, but can't we all agree that this particular thread genre has run its course and is no longer the least bit amusing?

Subby 04-07-2004 01:47 PM

must...control...evil...impulses...

JAG 04-07-2004 01:56 PM

Fritz tends to inspire FOFCers I guess. I've been getting a little tired of it recently too, although I admit I liked the Hanna-Barbaric one as being clever and unexpected.

Ragone 04-07-2004 02:40 PM

Yea, honestly its getting to the point where i don't even bother to read threads anymore.. I really wish it would stop, But i know better then to expect it to

SirFozzie 04-07-2004 02:43 PM

But you are a Louisville fan, so we ignore you....

I guess I can put you in the "not a fan" list.

Alan T 04-07-2004 03:40 PM

I am still waiting for someone to make a thread:

Looking for a bad-run assstopping gameplan parody thread. I figured that one would be calling someone's name by now.

Not as long as some people are desperate to draw attention to themselves.

Ksyrup 04-07-2004 04:15 PM

I'm mildly surprised no one has posted the "This is Barbarino?" thread, complete with a pic of Travolta from Battlefield Earth.

Kodos 04-07-2004 04:18 PM

I hereby affirm that I will cease and desist from this most heinous, barbaric practice. It was fun, but maybe this is something whose time has come and gone. I invite others to join me in this noble quest to purge FOFC of parody threads.

Fight the power!

WSUCougar 04-07-2004 04:20 PM

Anyone else think that the "thumb up" symbol (like on Kodos' post above) looks like anything but a thumb?

(i.e., getting flicked off, or a stick figure opening a box, or something else more bizarre)

Ksyrup 04-07-2004 04:20 PM

Wait...what about the power cajoling you into stopping? Shouldn't you be fighting that power?

Kodos 04-07-2004 04:21 PM

No. Not really.

Edit: This was in response to WSU, not Ksyrup.

Ksyrup 04-07-2004 04:24 PM

It looks like one of those "we're #1" styrofoam hands.

Kodos 04-07-2004 04:25 PM

It looks like a dynamite duck to me.

Now THAT was funny.

Only if you're in IHOF.

Put me on the 'Everything in moderation' list.

Ragone 04-07-2004 05:11 PM

Funny thing is Goldeneagle.. i like Southern miss.. i can't wait till louisville is pulled from conf usa so i can run dynasties with them as well :) Well i like most conf usa teams currently.. except cincinnati.. but who doesn't dislike them? :)

I think i'm pretty reasonable as far as most of my Louisville Alumni go.. But i do think if Telfair goes to Louisville for a year.. they are elite eight material :)

GoldenEagle 04-07-2004 09:26 PM

I am not a Southern Miss fan...I am a Tiger fan....

JeeberD 04-07-2004 11:40 PM

Hey GE, I read on the UTEP board that supposedly there are two finalists up for CUSA expansion, UTEP and LaTech. Supposedly CUSA will announce which school they want by the end of the month.

I wouldn't mind the Miners getting in at all... :)

GoldenEagle 04-08-2004 01:26 AM

Neither would I, esp. if La Tech is the other option. I hope the name is changed from C-USA to C-South

Ragone 04-08-2004 01:30 AM

Legit mistake Ge.. considering your board name :)

sorry ;)

VPI97 07-11-2004 10:45 PM

cthomer5000 07-12-2004 08:26 AM

I think it's just gotten to the point where everyone assumes their parody thread is funny. I don't hate the idea, it's just being abused by people with a poor senses of humour.

Fritz 07-12-2004 08:27 AM

trying to tell me something?

Nah, I think you're hit ratio is quite high. You probably bat .850 or so on the parody threads - a nice average. There are just a few imitators out there who are like 0-for-27.

You are compling stats?

That is the pinnacle of internet dorkiness

wade moore 07-12-2004 08:42 AM

wouldn't the strategy be to ignore them and they will go away?

How do you ignore anything with "big tits" in the title? You can't and you are better for clicking on it.

Ben E Lou 07-12-2004 08:45 AM

Dang. I do my first parody thread ever, and a three-month-old thread gets bumped because of it. Guess I just don't have what it takes... :(

Ben E Lou 07-12-2004 08:45 AM

Dola:

The PM complaining about wig screwing up the cartoon character draft shall forever reign supreme in the arena of internet dorkiness.

Fritz 07-12-2004 08:46 AM

you still have a big butt, so you have that going for you.

IMHO, the balrog statue still takes the cake.

I agree that the two are very close. :p If I recall, I didn't reveal the exact words of the PM (and I don't remember who sent it, but I still have it if I wanted to know). What made it take the cake for me was the level of intensity and anger that the guy expressed over the cartoon character draft being contaminated. It was the pinnacle of the "Lighten up, Francis" moments...

scooper 07-12-2004 09:51 AM

How can it not be "People lost posts!"?

no way he was kidding the first time.

For the sake of historical accuracy, I believe this was the video game character draft, not the cartoon draft.

You may be right. Now you're gonna have to make me look through my old PM's thereby making me remember who sent it to me. :p

Doesn't that fact make it even more dorky?
