OOTP6 FOFC League: Draft Poll
please vote if you're signed up (or are considernig signing up):)
|
My other vote:
General Mike's idea about a dispersal draft with a protected list of maybe 3 players from the original team. |
My vote being the same as Z
|
I like General Mike's idea as well.. however.. i'm wondering who the pirates will protect :P
|
I that or 2 pitchers, 2 position players..
1 pitcher has to have gold stars (generally a vet) 1 pitcher has to have blue stars (a rookie) the same with position players... :) |
Other - My idea. And as far as 3 players, thats just a general number to throw out their, because I figure even the bottom teams have 3 guys they would like to keep. And it's not like you have to protect 3 major league players. A team could protect 3 hot shot prospects, or 3 top veterans, or mix and match.

Even the Pirates have at least 3 players to protect ;) If only I could find a way to let OOTP let Lloyd McClendon be my utility outfielder :D |
I would prefer no draft, but if we go that route I really like being able to have a three or five man protected list...

I love this idea. It allows the people who got a team they really care about to keep a couple of key guys to keep some attachment, and for the rest of us, we can choose a couple guys to mold our teams around. |
I say 2 protected pitchers and 2 protected offensive players.
|
No draft, but if we did, I'd say any combo of 7, but no more than 5 at either position or pitcher
|
Why jeeber? half your team is gonna be applying for aarp cards after first year anyway ;)
|
Berkman? Hildago? Oswalt? Lane? Miller? Hernandez? Ensberg?
Yeah, so Bags and Bidge and Clemens and Kent are old-timers, but the Astros have plenty of young talent as well... :) |
Hildago? Does that mean you'll be leaving Hidalgo unprotected? :D
|
It sounds like there is some real merit to considering the "partial" draft idea - I, of course, would rather do it in full, but that would be a nice compromise, I think. Hopefully before too long we can get some kind of board to have more formal voting or whatever.
|
I normally would be in favor of a full draft if possible, but it just so happens that I only have one weekend between now and mid-June that I'd be free enough to participate in a live draft. If people would be willing to do a "slow" live draft, I'd be all for that.
|
I'm not sure about this, but what we might do would be "medium-speed" draft - you get 20 minutes or so to pick during the day or you can do a list pick, and optional picks are at night. And after a couple of rounds of that, you can start some 3-5 round mini-draft live sessions, and since it's past the first couple of rounds, drafting via list wouldn't be that big of a deal.
Obviously this is just speculation, but it seems a plan like that might be suitable for all involved. We'll still need to work out whether there really is interest in doing any kind of draft though. |

MrBug, no offense, but 7 is a ton of guys to protect, maybe too many, especially for the top tier teams. Yankees for example - ARod, Jeter, Posada, Vazquez, Mussina, Rivera, Giambi/Sheffield Oakland for example - Chavez, Crosby, Kotsay, Hudson, Mulder, Zito, Harden San Diego for example - Giles, Burroughs, Klesko, Loretta, Peavy, Lawrence, Eaton Maybe 3 major league players, and 3 prospects (no ML experience) is a good compromise. Picking a good roster set, is a key as well. |

I have the CBLCardinals v1.3 roster set, and most of it seems pretty darn good to me. I was thinking today, since there are quite a few minor league players included as well in this roster set, I think a total of 5 protected players sounds about right - I also like the 2 position players, 2 pitchers. I'm all for no draft... just take what's given to ya and go :D.
