![]() With the exception of a few country CD's here & there & an even smaller handful of new music (Nickelback, Staind, 3 Doors Down, and 1 old Seven Mary Three CD) the only music I've bought for myself in the past 10 years has been either catalog stuff from 70's/80's metal bands or new material from those same bands. In the past couple of years, I've made sure that my son (now age 6) has seen with me: Scorpions, Dokken, Poison, Deep Purple, Dio, Dokken, and Cinderella. And I'll be up & at 'em early Saturday morning trying to fight through the internet mob for Metallica tickets for the two of us (Gwinnett Arena, Nov 10th). I figure he'll enjoy it, he asked for (and got) the S&M video when he was just 2 y/o. If it's too loud, you're too old ![]() (He also enjoys watching The Ulitmate Ric Flair Collection DVD with me) |

I had to put an AIC song in there, because . . . well . . . I had to. My other AIC nominee would have been Angry Chair. Soooo many good songs to choose from. :) |
Quote:
If I had to go with Heart, I would have gone with Crazy On You, but Magic Man represents Heart pretty well. :) |
This is tough, real tough.
Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who 2112 - Rush Duel With the Devil - Transatlantic War Pigs - Black Sabbath |
Natural Science - Rush
Take a Chance on Me - ABBA (thanks, WSUCougar, for breaking the ABBA barrier for me) ;) Heart of the Sunrise - Yes Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen In truth I probably could've just picked four Rush songs to complete this list, but I didn't want to appear one-dimensional. :) |
Dashboard Confessional - Hands Down
Brand New - Seventy Times 7 Blink 182 - Dammit Saves the Day - Nightingale Geez, that was tough, there were 3 between B.N. and STD that I couldn't decide on which.. at all points I've liked them all the most. |
Quote:
There are about 5 Blink songs I can think of that are better. Untitled is my favorite, more so then WMAA, but Dammit? Might as well have said All the Small Things. Party song kicks ass too |
FTR, Dammit was my sketchiest choice. I was happy with all 3 but had to give Blink some acknowledgement.
So 5 songs are better? In your opinion. Dude, you're comparing All the Small Things when you put up What's My Age Again? Check yo'self. Untitled was one of my favorites for a long time when I was big into blink, but Dammit got me hooked on the whole genre so it gets it's due. And to completely respond to your whole post: Do you want to come to a party my friends picked me up in their truck at 11:30 |
The Animals - House of the rising sun
Bob Marley - No woman, no cry Les VRP - Léo Nina Hagen - African Reggae |
Three from Led Zepplin:
Since I've been loving you Rain Song (this was the first dance at our wedding) Over the Hills and Far Away And Shine on You Crazy Diamond (all parts combined) from Pink Floyd. |
Quote:
Nice choices. I forgot about House of the Rising Sun. |
Quote:
One of the funniest things I've ever heard is Oh Little Town of Bethlahem sung to the tune of that song. It fits perfect. It was on Bob River's Twisted Christmas, I believe. Now I can't hear one or the other without singing this to myself. |
Bob Dylan- Stuck Inside Of Mobile
Paul Westerberg- It's A Wonderfull Lie Big Star- Holocaust John Mellencamp- Jackie Brown |
Quote:
Cool, another person picked one of my songs. :) Quote:
Cool, another person picked a Who song. :) |
Son Volt - Tear Stained Eye
Pink Floyd - Fearless Wrens - Hopeless Guided By Voices - Your Name is Wild |
Quote:
Right on. 5:15 and The Real Me are my favorite Who songs, but I as a thematic song, Won't Get Fooled Again got my vote. |
Quote:
It does feature the greatest scream in the history of rock & roll. |
In terms of Who songs, I always liked "Slip Kid" myself.
|
Quote:
No shit. I saw The Who in 89. One of best things was seeing Roger sing, particularly this song. Not to mention I got to see Entwistle before he died. 1 of my top 3 bass players ever. After 89, I never saw them. I would have liked to see them with Zakk Starkey on drums (I have the DVD but it isn't the same). I kick myself in the ass for not spending money to see them for the Quadrophenia tour in 96 or 97...whenever it was. |
Slip Kid is a great song, as is The Real Me and pretty much anything off Quadrophenia.
|
California Love - Tupac and Dr. Dre
Gin n' Juice - Snoop Dogg Fuck the Police - NWA (The Roof is) on fire - Bizzy Bone |
I Will - The Beatles
Kissing the Lipless - The Shins Life, in a Nutshell - Barenaked Ladies Take me Out - Franz Ferdinand Those are my 4 favorite today. It may change tomorrow |
Ball and Biscuit - White Stripes
Stem - Static-X Comfortable Numb - Pink Floyd Bobby James - N.E.R.D. |
Shorty, without What's My Age again, you'd never would have heard of Dammit because, unless you were listening to Blink-182 at age 7, I doubt you got hooked on the genre by that one song.
|
AC/DC - For Those About to Rock, We Salute You
Beethoven - 7th Symphony Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks Pink Floyd - Echoes |
Louie, Louie - Kingsmen
Incense & Peppermints - Strawberry Alarm Clock Coolidge - Descendents Fly Me To The Moon - Frank Sinatra, et al |
One each from my 4 favorite groups:
Hey You - Pink Floyd Suite Madame Blue - Styx Pride - U2 Sand - Heart/Lovemongers |

I think I heard Dammit in 6th or 7th grade.. |
