Why do I PIC

I PIC'd last week, raised my T/S two notches, Lost one on monday, as expected, then sold my YP and lost another level. This put me back to where I started, What was the use of PIC'ing in the first place?

fantastic flying froggies 05-08-2004 04:37 PM

Well if you hadn't PICed, you would now be at starting TS minus 1. You would still have lost the one level from the sold YP...

Makes sense ?

Peaker 05-08-2004 04:43 PM

Only in a very wierd way, A very negative way to play the game...

thealmighty 05-08-2004 04:47 PM

Unless you waited a long time to do so, I don't believe selling your youth pull would drop your TS. Should be some other reason, like a poor or worse (if possible) coach dragging TS down.

Peaker 05-08-2004 04:59 PM

No, it stated the departure of my yp was the cause.

Nyarlahotep 05-08-2004 05:21 PM

I think you just missed the "free time" HT gives you for selling a youth pull.

What's your coach's leadership and is your clown popular or sympathetic? There's no way you should be losing a level the day after a PIC if you have a decent system in place.

If you don't have leaders capable of holding team spirit, then you are correct, PIC'ing doesn't have nearly as much value.

Vince 05-08-2004 06:28 PM

Is it right to be annoyed by people referring to whoever has the strongest team leadership as a clown? Isn't a clown only someone who is the team leader, but doesn't play? Example -

My top striker has Solid Leadership. He's the team leader, because he plays every day. He is NOT a clown (unless, of course, he acts like an asshat in the clubhouse or something like that :)).

Other situation - Some team has a guy who's best ability is Weak Passing. He rides the pine every week, but has Solid leadership. He's the team leader, but instead is referred to as a 'Clown,' because he doesn't play.

YoSoySean 05-08-2004 08:17 PM

Actually, a clown is defined as a player who is popular and has solid leadership. Doesn't matter if he plays or not. So asking if his clown was "popular or sympathetic" was incorrect. It would have said team leader instead.

Edit: I would like to add that they are called "clowns" because they help team spirit by joking around and making the clubhouse a more fun place to be.

This happens EVERY freakin week to me. I PIC, get to POE, and almost get back to satisfied by match time.

Peaker 05-09-2004 02:47 AM

My Clown is poplar/solid, my coach is new and excellent/solid, I don't have a clue, I might have missed the three day deadline to sell this 17 yo, Big price to pay if that's the reason.

Nyarlahotep 05-09-2004 11:19 AM

The deadline is six days and you pulled on the 2nd and sold on the 8th. And I would consider the price being paid for not being familiar with the rules and following them, not for missing a deadline.

ps- your coach has passable leadership.

Vince 05-09-2004 03:16 PM

Thanks Sean.

It's not right to be annoyed, but you can certainly correct me. :p If you are annoyed by something I post specifically, please direct the comment towards me, rather than using that annoying "people" when you are talking about a specific post. It's similar to talking about someone like they aren't in the room when they're standing right next to you. :p I use the term more generically, since, in my mind, the guy is your clown, even if he isn't that funny, and hence, not popular.

And Vince and Sean, how about answering the guy's question?

YoSoySean 05-09-2004 04:36 PM

Well... to answer Peaker's question: I don't know, though what froggie said is probably true. Your TS would probably be lower than it is than if would be if you hadn't PICed...

Sorry Desnudo, I actually wasn't trying to single out your post; I just happened to reply to this instance of it being done, though I've noticed it happening many other places. I should have mentioned something about that in my post...I apologize about that.

And, like Sean, I think FFF answered the question well. If he hadn't PIC-ed, he would have taken the hit from the transfer without ANY benefit, no matter how small.

Peaker 05-09-2004 05:58 PM

Thanks for all of the replies, and discussion, it seems I have been put in my place.

lytic 05-09-2004 08:28 PM

3 days to put on the transfer list, 6 days to sell.
