yes! :)

I wonder what's to become of XsN?

Pumpy Tudors 05-11-2004 10:04 AM

Somehow, I think XSN has bitten the dust for good.

hukarez 05-11-2004 10:26 AM

I was thinking the same thing. Microsoft had to give up something, to get EA to go Live and all. Still - it was a promising concept, from what I've seen.

Easy Mac 05-11-2004 10:32 AM

so wait, Microsoft is still going to make me pay monthly to use X-Box live, but I'll have to pay EA also?

Really, I bought you're fucking game, I bout the online pack, I pay $12 a month for the service, and you still want me to pay more? I'm loving XBox connect more and more.

Eaglesfan27 05-11-2004 10:48 AM

I just read the article, and I didn't see that we would have to pay both X-BOX live and EA sports. Did I miss that somewhere? In any case, I think I'll be buying EA sports games on the X-Box instead of the PS2 with this development.

hukarez 05-11-2004 11:10 AM

There's a mention of "pay to play" in the link that was provided at the top...though, I wouldn't think that it would apply to Madden or NCAA. Still - if it did, then I'd most definately not bother with Madden anymore on the XBOX. I'm wondering, if that would apply to whatever other games that EA has out there, in relation to MMORPGs, perhaps?

I can assure you this is most definitely not the case... ;)

Interesting. I guess those rumors that I've heard about Microsoft sacrificing it's XSN for EA to go Live are false then. However, is it true that the XSN served as a temporary test platform for the 4Q release of Halo 2's multiplayer component?

SirFozzie 05-11-2004 01:05 PM

All they're doing is "resting" for a year, right? :)

(And dropping future Top Spin/Amped titles?)

dawgfan 05-11-2004 01:13 PM

Sorry folks, I can't spill any more info, but XSN is still around and we're still working on games - just not for release this year. I will say I'm very excited about the things we're working on; I wish I could tell you more...

cartman 05-11-2004 04:31 PM

From the article, it made it sound that EA got on board after Microsoft allowed 3rd parties to set up their own servers, and not have MS control all of the servers.

Ragone 05-12-2004 01:12 AM

But yet still having to pay 50 bucks a year to play online.. no thanks.. Its bad enough playing online with ps2 people who play like crap.. paying to play against the same people would probably send me to the nuthouse

Comparing your PS2 experience to what you'd get on Xbox Live is comparing apples to oranges. One of the advantages to Xbox Live is a number of controls and ways to filter out the kind of opponents you don't want to play and hone in on the ones you do.

Speaking of which is there a list of X-Box live handles for FOFC members somewhere around here? Mine is Eaglesfan27 if anyone from here wants to add me on to play a head to head game in the future.

That's a great idea. I'm on Xbox Live as Pumpy. I don't play many Live games anymore, but I do have Links 2004, Project Gotham Racing 2, NBA Inside Drive 2004, four ESPN games (NBA, College Hoops, NFL, and MLB), Rainbow Six 3, and Whacked.

Uhhh, anyone else got Whacked? ;)

kingnebwsu 05-13-2004 12:10 AM

I got whacked last night and it hurt.

XBL name=kingneb

I play Rainbow 6, the new R6 when it comes out, and Halo 2 when it comes out. Also ESPN Hoops, but that one is pretty much done til next year.
