That's a pretty old story. If I remember, there's a book and he did the talk show circuit in the mid or late 90's

Mail me a check for $95,000 and I'll give you that hour back.

The author needs to learn the definition of "brevity," then excercise some.

GoSeahawks 05-24-2004 02:13 PM

I really enjoyed that read. Thanks

You know, people publish things much longer than this regularly. Those objects are called books.

nfg22 05-24-2004 02:57 PM

yeah I know, GOSH WHY DO YOU HAVE TO DEMEAN ME WITH YOUR INSULTS...............IN FACT THIS IS A BOOK, AN E BOOK TO BE EXACT. It makes me so mad when people demean my intellegence. I will now go shoot myself.

I didn't realize that he had posted this to Barnes & Noble.com. It would have been a better read as a journal where you could get updates to the story as it went along. That's how it appears that it was originally published. I'm just bitching because I should have read this while I was at home, not while I was at work. Obviously if I thought the story sucked, I would have stopped reading after the first page.

So why rip the author for a lack of brevity? I doubt his target audience was "people who want something to read at work."

Lol, or maybe lunch. :)

You do buy good lunches.

Desnudo 05-24-2004 04:42 PM

I like the summary format and I found the story engrossing. Once it's over, there's no need to maintain a diary format. Give me a beginning, a middle, and an end.

This thread has scared me into not reading the link.

JeeberD 05-24-2004 08:54 PM

I remember reading that back in '97 or so... :)

It's a great story worth your time. But make sure you have an hour or so to read it.

An hour? How slow do you guys read? ;)

You can get through it in twenty, thirty minutes tops.

Marc Vaughan 05-25-2004 03:38 AM

Cool story ... very tempting ;)
