5/14/2004 New USA U-20 addition???
Rumors have speculated Lisbon management may be looking to acquire star United States U-20 hopeful Jonathan Dixon in a blockbuster trade. Our source has asked not to be named as well as the players involved. Dixon is a member of Real Terps FC who currently reside in V.228.

you didn't know this, Vexxy?

Was it posted?

TargetPractice6 05-26-2004 03:54 PM

Chenoa told me that they were planning to make this trade and they have GM permission.

vex 05-26-2004 03:55 PM

Yeah, I was looking for a brilliant - magnificent Keeper, and noticed that they are getting rid of their 19 yo mag. keeper.

Poli 05-26-2004 04:28 PM

And to think, TK is in his fan club, too.

terpkristin 05-26-2004 04:59 PM

Ben's a friend of mine, he's also a GK trainer and has a strong desire for a u20 player, whilst I wouldn't mind getting rid of Dix so I can improve my midfield.

Right now though there is a fundage problem...neither of us have enough to ensure that the deal would go through without the possible chance of being overbid...we shall see if it ever happens.

His keeper is for sale right now.

Good point... :D

If there are no extra cash considerations, can you put both players on the market at the same time and use each other's bids to drive up the price on the other player?

Alf 05-26-2004 05:57 PM

Someone needs to be able to put the first bid on for that mecanism to work

terpkristin 05-26-2004 07:11 PM

The biggest hinderance we both have is having enough money to afford the 10% agent fees and stuff. We could post them both low and bid them up, but with me only having 400k right now (he's in a similar situation), I could only make a max bid of 4 mil, which won't be enough...

Why not wait for his magnif to sell and then just put your guy at a absurdly high price. he'll bid for him and you'll have the money to get what you want.

I think trading is overrated

Couldn't agree more. I'm all for trying to sell your players yourself, then go shopping and find what you want. There's a fair chance that you could be able to sell your player for more than his worth, and get a replacement at a bargain price...

The reason I'm not selling him flat out is I'd prefer for him to go to a GK trainer with a solid coach. I know, it's silly, but with such a prospect (barring injury of course), it would be a total waste. Now of course, some of the GK trainers out there would probably look at him and say, "Yep, he's got potential," but there are a lot of teams out there (SWEDEN) with a lot of money that don't necessarily train keeper. I may just hang onto him and train him until the NEXT u20 world cup is over, then either sell or hang onto him.

Meanwhile, my other trainee BETTER hit excellent tonight since he was SUPPOSED to do it last week.

I well an 18 year old uber player is probably going to go well over his value because only trainers are going to bid on him. I wouldn't worry about some rich team with now plans to train keeper taking him. they could get a 20 year old two levels higher for the same price you'd sell your guy for.

Now him going to a passable trainer is possible but mroe then likely he'd go to a solid or excellent trainer.

Havok 05-27-2004 01:02 PM

i'd wait till next season to sell him TK (i haven't read this entire thread so that might be what your planing to do).

I say that because from what i hear.... Dixson is the 3rd best 18 year old american keeper around. If you wait until he's on the U-20 next season he'll sell for a truckload more.

A 19 year old World Class keeper on a U-20 team im guessing would net you.....7.5 - 8 million???? thats a random guess, but 8 million is about 2 million more then WC keepers are going for now.

Personally i'd like to see you train him to Divine..... but i understand how hard it can be training Keepers and looking at your team you really need some midfield help if your gonna do well in divison IV.

bronconick 05-27-2004 03:58 PM

I wouldn't say trading's overrated, but I don't see how much good it would do me unless I'm selling a guy so highly skilled, that only a couple dozen teams in the US would want them. Then, it'd probably be easier to get one of their highly trained guys in return then scour markets looking for what you want.
This of course, is all coming from someone who hasn't bought or sold above outstanding yet, so meh. :p
