Ipod question - convert Mac to Windows?
So I got the Ipod itch and decided to take my chances on Ebay. Dumb move. I basically ended up buying a first generation IPOD that's Mac only. I'm a moron, I know.
However, can I salvage this fiasco? Can the original Mac version be converted to Windows? The Apple site was less than helpful in this regard. I figure that the Ipod is essentially a hard drive, so why can't I install different operating software on there? Anyone out there with some tips? Thanks. |

I suggest going here and browsing around. It's full of wonderful knowledge. |
I didn't click on that link but, I have a Mac IPod that I use with my Windows PC. I would suggest picking up a copy of XPlay, a program which will allow your IPod to interface with your Windows computer. I'm not sure if its still available at retail level, but you should be able to find it floating around online somewhere at the very least.

thanks, I'll check those out!

Dude, just download Itunes for windows.

In case you have any doubt, I have an original 5 GB ipod that I run on my windows machine using Itunes. and Itunes is free.

I already have Itunes, but I was under the impression that the Ipod needed a software update as well.

the forum at Ipodlounge pointed me towards the windows updater, so it appears that I haven't wasted $200. Phew.
Imagine watching your fiancee's delight turn to disgust as she opens her new/old Ipod to discover that... doh. It's for a Mac. |
