EA High School Football
EA just sent me a survey that asked alot of questions about high school football - it appears as though they are at least doing some research to see if thier is a market for a high school football sim

Unless Kodos can verify this, I call bullshit. ;) |
I love the skepticism - not sure what on earth my motivation would be to make that up - The ony reason I was even posting this was to see if anyone else got the survey.
Of course I would like to post a link to the survey - but when I do this is all it says: http://www.insightexpress.com/ix/tha...ePreview=&AB=1 |
Don't worry, it isn't skepticism towards you. Just a jab at the resident EA Whore, Kodos.
|
Sheesh.. import players from high school --> ncaa --> madden? (holds hand to forehead) :)

I'd buy a decent high school football sim instantly.

Lies, lies, lies!
Okay, I have no idea really. As for the EA whore, yes. But mostly a football game whore. I don't spend a lot of time (if any) whoring EA's hockey or baseball offerings. I did mention that I kinda liked NBA Live from 2 years ago (when they introduced the freestyle stick). But definitely, I am a Madden and NCAA Football slut, and would jump on a high school game in a heartbeat. Ahh, to play with my beloved Fairport Red Raiders in Section 5 football action. :) |
I don't see how it would be profitable for a company like EA. But I'd be all over it.

How wouldn't it be profitable? What does EASports sell that isn't profitable? |
We need a High School Football game and an Arena Football League game.
|
I'm waiting for EA Pop Warner 2005

Um, Kodos. Is there something we should know. (I just love selective quoting) - He can't deny he said any of this. :) |
Hmm. If they do a H.S. football game, I would expect it would be a little different than NCAA in that there's no way they could hope to accurately model all the high-enrollment high schools in terms of uniforms & logos, not to mention fields, playbooks, mascots and fight songs; what I could see is if they want a feeder system to create prospects for NCAA recruits is to make a somewhat generic H.S. football game and not even try to match actual schools; if you can't do it accurately, why even bother trying? Without that kind of authenticity though, I don't see much of a market for such a game.
I think a H.S. sim would be more suited to a text-sim. |

Just thinking about the possibilities of a high school game is making me drool. You could have really small kids playing the DL line due to the fact that they come from a small school, etc. Really cheap looking stadiums, RB's running for 10 yard averages.. would be great. |

Thanks, Splits! |
did no one else get this survey?
the questions were interesting along the lines of what would be the most important aspects of a high school game and they did specifically mention importing into NCAA |
I'd buy it and don't really care if schools are accurate or not as long as I can edit or make the ones I care about.

It would be great if there was a text sim that managed to portray all different levels of football from high school through to the pros, with players progressing throughout. I know it seems like a lot to ask but, maybe one day. |
and maybe in 30 years.. some guy named clarence maurice can challenge the nfl draft rule and make it into the nfl as a high school senior :)

In 30 years football will be played by robots. |

There actaully was a game for the super nes that allowed play at the high school, college, and pro level. It did not allow for individual player progression through each level, but it was still impressive. if I remember correctly, on the college level all D1A teams were represented and you could pick your own schedule. After each week of the season a poll would come out, toward the end of the season bowl bids were handed out and accepted, and after the season was done a champion was crowned (based on the poll). On the highschool level you basically created the names and colors for each school and the game provided the template for a 8 or ten team league. Then you played through the season (not quite as impressive). I don't remember what the pro level was like because I always played super tecmo bowl II for the super nes. The game had a pretty good interpretation of an option offense. It also had a sort of diagonal view of the field that was hard to get used to. |

You forgot to include the freestyle stick. |

SUper Play action Football? |
That is correct. I remember that game as well as the original NES one (that just had 8 pro teams).
|
Yeah, I remember that game as well, now that you mention it. I still think it would be great if there was one product to tie them all together though :)
