Good place to buy RAM?

I'd like to buy a 512MB stick of DDR RAM for my PC. Just wondering if anyone here knows a good place online to get it cheap.

It's my favorite Paul McCartney album! I suggest half.com or your local record store.

One of my old co-workers has a website for PC parts. I mentioned this awhile ago, but couldn't figure out the name until just last week. Nonetheless, there are some deals with free shipping, and you'd probably want to check it out:

EDIT: On a side note, they're aiming to go head to head with http://www.newegg.com

Just thought I'd toss in a plug for him. ;)

I think Newegg has good prices on Corsair value select, but not sure... you can use PriceWatch to get a good idea of where the market is sitting, keeping in mind that there's a certain amount of "you get what you pay for".

I have had very good luck with pricing, reliability, and support when dealing with Mushkin memory. hxxp://www.mushkin.com. That said, I haven't looked at their prices lately...so compare them against newegg and pricewatch. I'd pay a little more just because I like their "baloon" packaging system, very different.

Thirded. I've even had a stick or two go bad after like 3 years and they'll replace it if you just send it in.

Crucial

Crucial has raised their prices, newegg is cheaper. In all reality now is not a good time to by RAM. I read somewhere that there is a self imposed shortage by certain manufacturers.

Life time warranty.

I once had a stick of their memory go bad.
They next dayed (?) me a replacement with a pre-paid return envelope for the bad one.

I highly recommend them.

I'd say.. Ramsterdam!

http://www.newegg.com simply awesome company. Been shopping from them since they were tiny. Their whole business has been built based off their prices and their ability to deal with their customers.

I've had good luck with Crucial before i started buying everything from Newegg.

sterlingice 06-08-2004 06:22 PM

Well, for the longest time it was "Crucial for memory and then Newegg for everything else". Stinks if Crucial's raised their prices, tho :(

although Crucial's shipping will be faster, not that that matters much.

Really, I always thought newegg was pretty fast.

As for the topic, you can even get Corsair or Kingston value RAM for even cheaper, and it's all the same really. If you want some performance memory go with OCZ or the higher Kingston or Corsair line.

Sun Tzu 06-08-2004 10:44 PM

Newegg all the way. I never shop anywhere else (unless of course they don't have it :) )

Franklinnoble 06-11-2004 05:24 PM

FYI... just got 512MB PC2700 DDR RAM (PNY) at Best Buy for $89 - with $20 mail in rebate, that comes to $69. Not a bad deal...
