Grateful Dead+Jay-Z=Jay-z's Dead

I know a lot of people here enjoyed DJ Dangermouse's efforts in making the Grey Album so I figured I'd post this too. The Spinjunkies have taken Jay-Z's music and backed it with the music of the Grateful Dead. I haven't had time to listen to all of it, but so far, Encor, which is the only song I've listen to, sounds very good put over Friend of the Devil. If you want to check it out, here's the link:

I liked rap when it didn't suck and when it wasn't so overdone and commercial. That phase ended after the hey day of A Tribe Called Quest, Arrested Development, Kool Moe Dee, etc.

I find myself not liking much of the "new" stuff.. I do like some of Eminem, and I like Twista. But besides that, I lik people like Run DMC, X-ecutioners, and anyone that can make cool sounding beats. :) I don't care much for the actual rapping portion. Just the beats.

So I guess Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer, and Sir Mix a Lot was the in thing while rap didn't `suck`??

Noop 06-20-2004 07:35 AM
