OT: I'm eligible for advancement!
Woo!
I found out today I'm eligible for advancement to E-6! I previously believed I wouldn't be eligible until March of 2005. The advancement exam will be in September. I should find out the results in November or December. Looks like I need to get studying! Wish me luck! AE |
Is that the arts and crafts ward? ;)
|
You sunk my battleship!
|
Just wait, give it a few more years, and we can call him Chief Enthusiast
|
when are you taking on DeNiro in that helmet breath holding contest?
|
woohoo!!! :)

I think this was done by that asshole E-7 so he can boss you around directly ;)

If you'd quit hanging around racetracks, you'd probably be an admiral by now.

Example of a question on a test:
Which of the following solid-state devices has both gain and fast switching capabilities? 1. Zener diode 2. Tunnel diode 3. Junction diode 4. Point-contact diode Kudos to the first person that gets it. |
2/3
|
I really don't want to win Kudos
|
It's not Zener because I remember studying those and don't remember anything resembling "fast switching". So it's one of the other three. There's my contribution.

And check mate!

Update: 103 electronic technicians will be promoted from E5 to E6. Cross your fingers, please.
|
Congrats and good luck, AE.
|
Yeah, GL.

It's weird when it takes you a while to understand your own jokes. |
Best of luck to you, AE... :)
|
Thats got to be a tunnel diode Ardent.

Good luck AE. There were a few Navy folks running around with me in Turkey. So I've seen some of the study material for your tests.....good Lord is all I can say! It's a foreign friggin' language. Good luck!

I'm very rusty with my electronics knowledge, but I'll go with junction diode. Anyways, I hope you are one of the 103. :) |
Heh. I didn't make it. I don't know the details (where I ranked in the promotion list) as of yet.
|
Sorry to hear it, my friend. When do you get another crack at it?
|
March is the next exam. I've been studying for it anticipating I wouldn't be advanced this time.
|
Sorry ardent, but don't sweat it. no body makes it the first time they are eligable.
|
I know you'll get there soon! Heck, you'll be two pay grades above me, well once me.

Bah, think of all the doorknob ET1s you know. Out of curiosity, 103 out of how many eligible ET2s? |

I'm not sure. The percentage of those that made it hasn't been released yet. |

The following people will not be promoted: Ardent Enthusiast. Thank you, have a nice day. {loudspeaker feedback} Sorry to hear it, bud. Good luck next time. |

Attention workers, we have completed our evaluation of the plant. We regret to announce the following lay-offs, which I will read in alphabetical order: Simpson, Homer. That is all. -- The power plant is under new management, ``Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk'' SI |
I did far better than the other three in my office on the exam. I did better than 70% of other electronic technicians that took the test. That made me feel good.
As for the final multiple (which factors my test score, awards, evals, and such), I finished 22 points off the pace. That was still good for first in my shop, which really ticked off a guy who has taken this test before. Oddly enough, I only got 3 questions out of 10 on sexually transmitted diseases (this section was testable under "basic military knowledge"). Apparently, FOFC hasn't taught me nearly enough. |
The Afoci hasn't been around much lately.
